Grrrrrrrr
My office wants to put the receptionists (I'm one of them!) in uniforms. I work for a very large corporate law firm. W*T*F?! They did say that they would buy all our clothes for us and they would be in shades of blue from Land's End. Now I don't mean to offend any Land's End wearers, but those clothes are not for me. The colors are weird and the clothes are shapeless.
They want us to wear a lot of sweater sets and blazers and the best part of all... the sweaters and blazers will be embroidered with our company logo over the left breast.
This is the color they want us to wear, and this is the sweater set that they tried to sell us.

There's no point to this post other than to complain. lol! I just hate this place!

At least you're honest. Yupp, a boob logo. Like the one I had on my sweater in highschool. I wore a uniform for 16 years of my life. I thought I was done!!!
I just showed my MIL the stuff and she's like 'Oh hell no, I wouldn't even wear that.'

Re: Grrrrrrrr

i miss uniforms though because I am a terrible dresser.

Re: Grrrrrrrr
yikes
while i wouldn't want to offend any Land's End wearers either, my company buys a logo'd shirt for our employees to wear on 'casual friday' and i never even do because it is so ill fitting. i have sweater from there too (because they wanted us to have a cold weather logo item too
) and it's just not cozy.but the bright side, you will definitely be looking foward to dressing nice in your own clothes outside of work!

It's not very flattering on me.
They said another option was burgundy which I would prefer but they really want us in blue to match the mailroom guys. Another blow right there.

Sorry dude. That blows
Although it is a good excuse to go out and buy a whole lot of accessories to bring a little more of your personality out.
I would kill someone or quit if they tried to make us wear uniforms.

Re: Grrrrrrrr
how can they make you wear a uniform because you are an assistant? I feel like that is profiling or harassment or some form of unfair treatment or something along those lines.Everyone should be forced to wear a uniform!
Although at least you can save money and no longer purchase work clothing...

they make them because they are the face of the company when people walk into the office..
i get it... even thought it sucks... if there was a male receptionist im sure he would have to wear it too... not the pretty cardigan combo lol but to wear a blue shirt with the logo...

I thought the same thing! It's like we're lower than the support staff. The mailroom has to wear uniform polo shirts but they always justified that because they are outsourced from Xerox and need to be easily identifiable while walking around on the floors. I'm at the reception desk. There is NO mistaking what I am. It's just so unnecessary.

Well we are already held to a higher standard with our dress code. While the rest of the office is business casual, we're supposed to dress up more and we do. I'm prepared to blame my co-worker. She's wearing something that looks almost like a sweatshirt today. But then again, it's like 50 degrees in my office so I get why she's got it on.
