remember when the internet was new, and you tried to sign into AOL

and you heard the phone beeping and then the static noise, and you just prayed that you were actually able to log-in and there was NOT a busy signal!!



i just thought of that. wow, how times have changes! lololol

OMG yes!! My parents used to yell at me when I was on the internet too long b/c no one could get through on the phone!

I've been terrorizing the internets since 1996 when I was 6th grade.

In 7th grade I would go online every day after doing my homework and talk to people in the 'MTV: Loveline' chatroom and talk about how I had a crush on Adam Corolla

So essentially... in 14 years... absolutely nothing has changed.

I like dealing with people via technology better than face to face, I spend way too much time on the computer and equally too much time sexually objectifying weird famous guys.

... and I probably have the same size boobs as then too.

omg I used to watch that in secret! whenever i heard my mom coming, id switch it off. wasnt it on the radio too? or was that dr, judy?

are we the same age?

And janis, yes i loved that sound!! Before AOL (i dont remember what it was) but my friend and I would type in the address to a pearl jam fan site, then go get some food and 15 minutes later the page would have loaded! the good ole days!!

LOL that was Dr. Judy on z100 at nights! I used to listen too!!! I totally remember a friend of mine calling up and saying he could never get laid because he was on the Golf Club at school and the chicks thought he was a nerd.

my dad used to intentionally pick up the phone to knock me off-line if he thought it had been too long. eventually we got a second phone line - 'the computer line'

i remember if my dad was online you'd always know if he got kicked off - you'd hear 'you stupid son of a b!tch **** sh!t a$$ #$&*(()$@*#'

I think I got AOL in '95 or so?

Within a few months I found a PJ message board that I liked. And...a bunch of the people from there became real-life friends throughout the years and tours...one is a best friend of mine. The ones that live nearby came to our wedding.

Remember when the log-in tone was wonky and you would just cancel the connection because you just knew something was off about it? I remember getting bent out of shape if it was consistently a crappy log-in tone!

I still have my AOL e-mail I have had it since 1996 and I dont want to part with it!

Yes I remember getting knock off-line all the time. I would be in the middle of doing something and bam off-line. And it was sooooooooo slow!!!
