How much would you give...

for a destination wedding, that is already costing you close to $1000 for travel and hotel accommodations?

They gave us $150..should we just give the same?

I was just informed last week due to budget cuts I will have no job come June and DH doesn't work during the winter so ya this is a financial problem lol.
Also I am spending about $200 on the b-party, she was not invited to mine. But I have known her since I was about 5.
Opinions anyone?

Re: How much would you give...

Honestly gifts aren't necessary at a destination wedding. Your presence should be gift enough. That being said, why not get them a channa plaque or something like that as a wedding gift.

Re: How much would you give...

honestly -- and this is just me... but obviously this is something special to you if you're making this big trip on her behalf AND doing the bach party thing.

i'd talk to her and let her know your situation...

i'd give a small gift but that's it. IF that.

she should understand. if not, she's an a-hole.

you are already spending more to GET there than you would on a regular wedding.

Re: How much would you give...

We are going to a destination wedding in November and I don't plan on giving anything for 2 reasons.

1-it is costing us over $1000 to go and
2-they only gave us $100 for our wedding.

Re: How much would you give...

My brother had a destination wedding (Las Vegas) and he didnt expect anyone to give him anything. Most people did give something but it was not what you would get at a Long Island wedding. I agree with the Channa Plaque. you can have it delived to the house before the wedding so you dont have to bring it on the plane.

Re: How much would you give...

We have a destination wedding this year, its costing us $2k just in flights! So I'm not giving a gift, personally I think us flying half way around the country is a gift.
