its a cute town
casino + race track
not far from a six flags if anyone wants that
short drive from albany if you want to see the capital of NY --> in albany they also have a duck tour which is cute

Hey Celia don't fret....I think the PA idea is cool...Back in my Nassau Community College days.....I had an event at Pocono Manor. Had a good time, even though it was for a much older crowd.

I see they also have an Inn at Pocono Manor, so you may want to check that out too.

ETA: from what I can see they have fly fishing, horseback riding, hay rides, golf, etc. Hope that helps.

I have to admit I went horseback riding while I was up at Pocono Manor and it was awesome!!!

i don't know how your folks are but maybe a trip to AC would be perfect for them since they frequent that area? the only difference is that their not paying for anything!

if their like the old folks i know, their the type who likes to be in their 'comfort' zone - go to places they been to/familiar with...

Mystic, CT. I love it there. There is a cute little village town perfect for kids. They have a tiny duck pond. DH and I go there all the time. Especially when we need time away. We stay at the Comfort Inn on Whitehall Ave.

It's a quick relaxing get away. Plus you have the option of going to Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods. I believe there is a shuttle bus from the hotel to the casinos!

There's also the Mystic Aquarium and the Mystic Seaport. There are great places to eat.

Sometimes you can find package deals online.

OH & I forgot about the Wineries!

They dont pay for anything anyway when they go. the rooms and meals are comped and My dad usually wins so they play with the winnings from last time. I want to do something different for them

If you want a family thing in PA....Great Wolf Lodge is an amazing indoor water park. We went there (the Cincinatti location...there is one in the Poconos) with ILs, SIL & BIL and SD for NYE one year and everyone loved it!
