I apologize for how long this post is...feel free to scan or even overlook it compleaty, I just really need to get this out before I breakdown...

First off I would like to say I'm sorry I haven't been posting on the boards as much lately... I promise I have been around just have a lot going on. All my animal lovers I need your help.....
4 weeks ago my mom sister and I adopted 3 handicapped kittens from a local shelter. They all were born with CH (cerabella hyperplasia) which is a neurological disorder where their cerabellum was not completely formed, because of this all 3 kittens have wobbly hind legs and fall a lot. Each Of the kittens have varying degrees of mobility with their back legs.
When we adopted them I was explained what they had and that while the disorder would never get better they would live long, virtually-healthy, regular lives. We just had to take them being that we are huge cat lovers.
We get them all home bring them to our regular vet to be checked out and 2 were given a fairly clean bill of health minus the CH and one they said had a slight heart murmur (but not to worry bc it could go away as he got older). 5 days later the kitten with the heart murmur went into cardiac arrest and needed to be put down. We were devistated but knew we had to be strong for the other 2. Another week goes by and the kitten with the least mobility out of no where becomes very lethargic, not eating, and not using the bathroom. We bring him to the vet only to be told his kidneys were in full failure and he could not be helped. We sadly needed to put down another kitten.
We are down to one-Bentley the strongest out of the 3. He has been doing so well but the past 2 days his walking seems to be getting worse and he can't tell when he needs to go to the bathroom- he just sort of goes wherever and he doesn't even know it until he is done. He is still eating and playing but I'm afraid his kidneys are starting to fail like the other kitten. My mom and I are going to bring him to the vet in the morning but I know in my heart this will probably not end well.

I just feel like I became a hospice for these poor kittens that nobody wanted. I loved them and wanted so badly to help them have a happy life. They were all such sweet little baby's that just wanted to be held and loved... I'm just numb from it all right now and wish at times like these I was not such an animal lover...

UPDATE
unfortunately the vet said he was beginning to get what the last kitten was dealing with and while surgery is an option it would not be a guarantee and with CH he could run into complications. We sadly this morning had to put our last little baby down.
The vet said we did the right thing, and it takes a very special person to do what we have done for these kittens. Its very nice to hear that coming from a professional but it still hurts so much.

Thank you ladies for your very kind words- im such a baby when it comes to animals..especially cats. I am just trying to keep telling myself that we gave and showed them more love then some animals receive in a lifetime. They were true angels that I hope are now all together reunited and most importantly healthy and able to run around and play like they deserved.

First of all, I really commend you, your mom and sister for taking on not one special needs pet, but three. That is amazing of you guys and you should be so proud that you gave these kittens a home and love for even that short of a time. They were held and loved by you and they died humanely. If you hadn't taken them, they might've never known what it felt like to have a home.

I hope for the best for the third kitten

you did the right thing taking those kittens in. they had a loving safe place to live out their final days in peace and i'm sure they will be forever grateful.

Not many people will adopt a sick animal, you took in 3. That was great! You gave them a home. It's hard when you lose a pet since you were taking care of them. Be strong. Things will get better.

You did help the two kittens that had passed. They had someone love them for the last few days of their lives. I hope Bentley is okay.

awww i'm so sorry to hear this and you have a really big heart for taking them in. it's sad to hear that they had such short lives but you gave them the best that they would have ever gotten. i wish the best for bentley.

I'm so sorry to hear this Kristen! You did something not too many people out there would do & that's give 3 sick baby animals a loving home. You are definitely one of a kind.. I'm just SO sorry you lost them..... try and stay positive for Bentley! Miracles happen! He needs you the most right now... prayers for you & for the little fighter!
