I was at a small Eddie Vedder solo show a few years back and someone asked him what Yellow Ledbetter was about and he explained. It's about a friend of his who learned via a yellow letter that his brother had died in the Gulf War....he took a walk with his friend and happened upon a house with an American flag hanging in front of it...there were some people on the porch...Vedder and friend saluted the flag...the people on the porch looked at them like they were dirt.

The song always got to me, but after the description of what it meant (he never spoke about the content of the lyrics til that show, in 2008), it became quite the heart-wrencher.

i don't work in an office so the only time i get to listen to music when i'm driving between hospitals. i don't have satellite radio so i listen to cds. today i listened to1) brothers by black keys 2) flaming lips

Stuff like that always get me too. Sadness + Family + people looking down on others in pain = tears and/or choked up-ness
