Massage Envy

has anyone ever been? do they even exist in NY? they're all over in NJ and one just popped up in Jersey City. $49 hour long massage....i'm tempted....very tempted....

I've been there before for the $49 introductory massage. I've definitely had better. It's a different experience than going to a spa - you don't change into a robe and relax before you're called, there's no showers or anything like that either. For the $49 it did the job but I like spas better. I definitely wouldn't go back for the full price.

i did teh $49 deal thing ... i enjoyed it ... they even have a sheet you fill out that says what you'd like them to concentrate on (neck / back / etc)

after you're done, they try to get you to subscribe to their monthly massages ($49 each still) so be prepared to say no (or yes)

I went to the one in Port Washington with the intro deal .. its $49 for a 50 min massage, they say an hour but include a 10 minute consultation/fill out paperwork.

i was NOT impressed. the place was not that nice and the massage was OK.

if you want to do an intro cheapy massage go to HAND AND STONE. their places are MUCH nicer and i think they have a 1 hour massage and 1 hour facial for $50 each, so $100 total ... or if you want to do just a massage i think its $50.. much nicer ambiance and most the people i had were up to par. some are fantastic but all are professional etc.

theres one in huntington and hicksville and a few more i forget where else...

never heard of massage envy but i always get bodywork (the asian version of a body massage)... they're pretty good in identifying which part of my body that needs attention so i just let them do their thing.

a full hour of body massage for only $30+tip. in fact i just had an hour foot massage last night for $20

forgot the exact address but it's on 40th Road between Main St & Prince St in Flushing... there's a lot in that strip but I go to the one that is cleaner and have people who actually understands English. if your interested, i'll FM you the info once i get home.

DH works in Garden City and just told me they're opening one right by Roosevelt Field mall.

I'm a licensed massage therapist but I haven't massaged in over a year...with all the wedding planning, health issues, and job change (social worker full time) drama I didn't have/make time to massage. I was actually thinking of popping into Envy for a pt job to get back into the swing of things. I never wanted to work for anyone, but maybe I will until I get re-acclimated...then go into business for myself.
