Val! When are you going? I'm going there soon.Did we discuss this at the NW luncheon? Maybe we did. I was rather drunk.
I don't really have a hotel rec...DH & I are staying about 20 minutes outside of Boston because we're doing a few different touristy things in other areas either. Plus we kinda cheaped out on the hotel...usually we don't, but we're saving for like 2139129321 things right now lol..so I'm a little afraid of what this hotel is going to be like.

Re: Need help re: Boston!
I was just there a few weeks ago. We didn't stay in a hotel, but I can tell you that the city is TINY. Honestly it is probably about the size of the Village. So anywhere you stay you will be close to things.

Re: Need help re: Boston!
I don't agree that anywhere you stay you will be close to things. You want to be in the copley area/fanueil hall/boston common, try the hilton or hyatt (i think it's hyatt copley place). if you are too far north or south of the main downtown area, it can be a pain to get around.one thing to note- hotels there are $$$$$$$$$$$$$.
good luck!

Ditto. The city is definitely larger than the Village. Priceline might be the way to go...you can bid on hotels in the areas Bear mentioned, might save a bit of money that way...the areas she mentioned really are the best places to stay.

What bear said. Downtown Boston is pretty small, but Boston as a whole is a big city, definitely bigger than the village. I'd say the other area to look in would be the financial district, around the Prudential Center.

Westin Copley Place!! It is an amazing hotel, everyone is so nice, the rooms are huge, huge lobby to hang out in, has a sushi bar & very happening bar at night, gym, hot tub & pool, there's a starbucks downstairs and its connected to a huge mall. Its also a short walk to Newbury st which has great shopping & restaurants.

I was just there and stayed at the Double Tree downtown. It was nice, and it wasn't far from Boston Common and some nice restaurants. It is in the theater district. We took a subway to Faneuil Marketplace.

I just post this on the other thread, but I'll say it again - Omni Parker House! Love that hotel. (Love Omni in general. when we go to TX this summer we're staying at Omni Houston and San Antonio River Walk.) Perfect location by far! A 15 minute walk from everything. It's a stop on the Freedom Trail. This hotel is famous!-Oldest continuously operating Hotel in the US
-Haunted? on the 3rd and 10th floor!
-Where JFK announced his candidacy for Congress in the hotel's Press Room and stayed for his bachelor party
-Hô Chí Minh who was a baker in the bakeshop
-Malcolm X was a busboy at the restaurant
-Emeril Lagasse working in the kitchen
The restaurant invested Boston cream pie & Parker house rolls and coined the term 'scrod'
