so you guys would be going to work normally, and your families would pick up the kid(s) after school and babysit every day for 2-3 hours?

that seems like a lot of work for the families .... i feel like it's a lot to ask of them....

It takes a village to raise a child.

There are a few options
* day care
* after school programs
* or a babysitter who comes to the home everyday. (Dh has a friend who does this).

I also think that the first few years will be the hardest. Once a child is in elementary school there are more options such as them going over a friends house, having other activities going on after school (dance, girl scouts etc.) where carpooling may become part of the day.

I am hoping to work from home, but I am sure that I will need someone to help out so I can actually do some work. Right now my mom watches my niece 12 hours a week, so maybe she can help me out too or my sister that only works 12 hours can help me too.

If I don't have enough work, I guess day care. But DH is off in the summer since he is a teacher, so that is a big help too!

Mor - I stress about this too. but I am sure that it will all work out.

With my older one I put her in private school they had morning care (7:30) and then after school unil 6 P.M.

I am lucky to work not to far from home (about 30 minutes)..Mind you I paid through the nose

During the summer I sent her to camp then the odd weeks when there was no camp I took some vacation and she spent a week with grandparents.

My other one we were lucky to find a daycare that was open from 7AM to 6 PM only closed 3 days a year so summer was not a problem.
