Phone Etiquette

This is what happened:

Me: Accounting Office?
Person: Hi with whom am I speaking?


No assshole, You called ME, who are YOU?
Why do people think this is ok?

I understand that you're calling regarding your taxes and you don't want to talk to someone that might not know your situation, but that's why you say YOUR name first, then MAYBE ask for mine and then give me your situation OR ask for the accountant.

There's only a small handful of people that do this, but i am so taken aback when it happens that I want to say something like, 'I'm sorry didn't you call me? What's YOUR name?'

My Dad always does this to telemarketers and I love it, but obviously I can't do that here.

people are so stupid sometimes.

haha i was going to post something similar yesterday because i called someone and they were chewing their gum into the phone like a cow chewing cud and the noise drove me insane!!!!!

haha i was going to post something similar yesterday because i called someone and they were chewing their gum into the phone like a cow chewing cud and the noise drove me insane!!!!!

I don't get that on the phone, but MIL ALWAYS speaks with her mouth full. UGH!

i agree though people are stupid and miss it half the time even after you tell them.

I hate when people do that. It drives me crazy. I also hate giving out my name or location. I am always worried someone is going to hunt me down & kill me.
