Restaurant recommendation? I'm being picky though...
Bear with me.Looking for restaurant recommendations for DH and I for tomorrow. Central/Eastern Queens, Brooklyn, Western/Southern Nassau.
Looking for something Italian, American or...well, creative, I guess. Obv vegetarian-friendly. No Thai/Chinese/Japanese/Indian...I cook that stuff all the time. No seafood places because we are veggie all the way (but we're not vegan).
I feel like all the places I've thought of is the same-old, same-old.
Thanks.

I keep on hearing about how great Ornella in Astoria is. They have separate vegetarian menu. P.S. they have an annoying website. Turn your speakers off unless you like Volare!Ornella

Oevo Ristorante on northern blvd in great neck. This place is very cool and they have a modern take on traditional Italian food. I love it and can't wait to get back there! I drool just thinking about it, not even kidding.Anthony's on Union. It's in Oakland Gardens/Bayside. I had my eparty there, very friendly and cozy. Very neighborhood Italian.

I second the fried cappellini there - my SIL baby shower is there...YUM!!!
Also for Italian try Stella's in Floral Park on Jerich Tpke. Probably about a 2 or 3 block walk from the train station.

that was my vote. however, they get INSANELY CROWDED for valentines day (which includes this wknd). we usually go there every year for v-day.
also amusing bc we're getting takeout from there tonight (including fried cappellini).
NOTE TO KRIS - DO NOT EAT THE FRIED CAPPELLINI (it has small bits of ham in it). people used to ask if we could make it without the ham (when i worked there like 13 years ago). i don't know if they ever developed a non-ham version.

Try Trattoria Lucia in Bellerose. It's RIGHT off the Cross Island and it's very cute. PLUS the menu is fairly big with lots of choices for veggies.

There is also a Besito in Roslyn .. much closer to queens but GREAT food. But in huntington, my fave is FH Rileys. As far as Italian--- Luigi's on Union Turnpike its in queens but right near the border of LI. AMAZING manhattan quality Italian food and NOT overpriced. LOVE IT.
