Re: Saving tips
Try to be a really effective grocery shopper. Go with a list and plan out meals ahead of time. We were spending way too much $ on food. We also now limit take out/going out to once a week at max.We are Trader Joes loyalists! They make it so easy to stay on budget while still eating great and healthy food!

Re: Saving tips
This is a GREAT thread, thank you for starting it. We're saving for a house as well and if feels like we'll never get there! We decided since DH just got a nice raise, we're going to put my check into savings each week and we're going to live off his check so hopefully it will cut saving for a house in half the time. But we're going to have to save, save, save so this thread is going to be VERY helpful! Thanks again for starting it and keep them coming girls. The grocery thing I do and it DEF saves money! I haven't tried Trader Joes yet but I'm going to!

Re: Saving tips
I'm in charge of savings and paying bills which makes me very happy.lol I look at how much we have to pay in bills per month and what we realistically spend on food, gas, transportion and ATM $. I've made the goal of saving 2500-3k p/month and so far so good. I've learned that having to pay my bills all at once REALLY helps. There are no surprises and I can plan accordingly based on pay dates.

Re: Saving tips
When we go out to eat we've only been going to places we have coupons. Last night we went to agreek place b/c we had a coupon for 2 free gyros., Our dinner ended up costing $8. Other than that we try not to go out to eat.Like someone else had mentioned- when you go grocery shopping make a list and stick to it. Check out the flyers and see whats on sale.
Also, before you buy more food try and finish whatever you have left in the house.

Re: Saving tips
Take all your change at the end of the day and just throw it in a huge jar. You will be surprised how much you can save that way.Cut coupons, buy food on sale and store brands.
If your cable company has a triple play- take advantage of that. DH and I save a ton of money that way.
Instead of going out to the movies- go to the $1 Redbox and rent a movie.
