Sleeping next to DH...

When you first moved in with (your now) DH... did it take you a while to get used to sleeping next to him???

We moved in together in February, I thought we had it down.. but lately he's driving me nuts lol.

Ex: last night, he slept in the dead center of the bed so i had no roll over room, which equals zero sleep for me. This is his new thing b/c he says he gets back pain from sleeping on one side of the bed.

Any reccos on how to make the sleeping arrangements work? I feel like I offended him this AM when I told him he kept me up all night

Re: Sleeping next to DH...

DH says the same thing about sleeping on one side of the bed, too. We just try to flip the mattress over when it gets uncomfortable for him on one side of the bed.

We have a queen - and it's a pretty awesome mattress. It cost a pretty penny but we wanted to make it an 'investment' so i get nervous when he tells me 'sleeping on the one side hurts my back'

Re: Sleeping next to DH...

i barely sleep in the bed. he has tourettes in his sleep, farts and snores.

I have insomnia..so when i finally DO sleep, i wake up to the smell of his azzz. sometimes he even wraps his legs around mine..and he has such bony legs. i hate it.

so i have been sleeping on the couch.

my advice to you...if your dh is sensitive.... sleep on the couch. and tell him u feel bad and dont want to disturb his sleep so u will just sleep on the couch.. i GUARANTEE u, he will not be sprawled out like a dog ever again lol

i remember once we had a fight about dividing the mattress in half... dh got so angry he took a marker and drew a line down on our sheets...

Re: Sleeping next to DH...

maybe try rotating your mattress, or flipping it?

or maybe a mattress pad will help reduce the back pain.

I usually just push ricky over when he comes over to my side lol

i might try the couch idea - thank you

Ya know - now that you and Jill said it, we were supposed to flip the mattress around and I think we just forgot.

So maybe we'll try that first and see if it works.

Thanks!!!

Re: Sleeping next to DH...

I have been living with DH for 2 years and it STILL s*cks! I just give him the finger in the morning and tell him he is the WORST person to sleep with! I asked for 2 double beds but he was against it.

Right now we just have to live with it and when we get a house we're going to get a king size bed. DH's problem is that he doesn't pick himself up when he rolls to another side of his body, he just rolls onto me. OR he puts his elbow in my ear and we have a Queen. Problem with our bed though is that it's a Sleep by Number which I love but will never own again. When DH comes to my side, it inflats the bed more and hurts my back.

Flip the matress and if that doesn't work, try the couch, I do this too when he gets too annoying!

Re: Sleeping next to DH...

My DH is a snorer - I just hit his arm and tell him to roll over (he normally stops snoring on his side - except when he's drunk). Also he likes to fall asleep to the TV which I don't like because of the light - so I got one of those eye mask thingees that block that out. If he's unbearable - I sleep on the guest bed.

If flipping the mattress doesn't work get one of those foam egg crate thingees. I have back problems and that really helped me.

Re: Sleeping next to DH...

My DH has a tendency of sprawling out on the bed, like he's the only one on it. I just wake him up and tell him to move. I felt bad at first, but he's gotten much better- good luck!

Re: Sleeping next to DH...

We have a King size bed and DH can still ruin a nights sleep for me. He sleeps like a star fish, burps, farts, mumbles all night. I will never get used to it. I try to go to bed first. I have slept on the couch a couple times to prove my point. Sorry. Hopefully it gets better for you.

Re: Sleeping next to DH...

I have no issues with DH....however, I am a MONSTER in the middle of the night....

DH has told me that I throw things at him, I talk, I make noises, I rip his covers off and then throw my blankets at him, I hit him in the face

I don't really know what to do, because I don't know I'm doing any of this!

Re: Sleeping next to DH...

Sleeping next to DH actually isn't too bad. It's only after I hop out of bed to snooze the alarm clock for 2 SECONDS and I come back and he's taken over the entire bed! But I just shove him over now lol. Same thing when he snores (which is rarely, thank goodness!) I just make him roll over and it's fine.

You'll get used to it eventually!
