so....

To pass time, I figured we can ask interesting questions and get some good laughs on this Hump Day....

What is the weirdest/ugliest/dumbest gift you ever got?

Worst gift I ever got was this weird looking thing from someone at work. I wasn't sure if it was a scarf, skirt, tube top or something else. It took me hrs to figure out what the heck it was. My coworker had to google it for me (turned out to be a neck cover). I also got a fertility blanket that same year

Re: so....

i got a neck cover once too! it looks like a skirt but then it's like wool, and you're like, why would anyone wear that?

hmm, worst gift ever. we got egg bowls from someone at our engagement party. i dont know what im supposed to use them for, or why they were given to us. they even have covers. They are Chinese - probably from Chinatown. The gift giver was DH's Filipino cousin. The box had a $3.99 tag on it. I can't even find a picture of it online that's how strange this gift is

PS if someone can explain to me how to use them, i'd be overjoyed. they're taking up room in my cabinets

Re: so....

i totally forgot about this till just now but we got this hideous cloth ... thing for our e-party. it looked like a small pillow-case, but there was no opening anywhere (the edges were all sewn shut). We ASSUME it's a challah bread cover but we're not really sure. Since we're not really religious, it's pretty useless to us. It was from one of my mom's co-workers who, apparently, was soooo excited to give us this gift

as for ugly - it's a tie:
DH's mom made me these two insanely ugly necklaces. She crocheted the necklace portion and purchased these horrendous pendants to put on them.

DH's grandmother bought me a pair of parrot earrings. They are at least 2-3 inches long it was a cute thought though since i do like birds.

Re: so....

My cousin decided to start making her own jewelry. Last year, she made me a nice necklace and I was pleased. For my birthday this year she made me neon turquoise skull earrings. Now they could be cute and kitchsy, but these ones were NOT, and they were not my style at all.

These aren't the one's she made, but they are EXACTLY the same.

Re: so....

I love my Grandma more than anything but she has to be one of the worst gift givers. I know it is the thought that counts but for example our wedding she gave us a crystal butter dish, sugar cup and I don't remember the last one. I don't mind that they were handed down I liked that idea but she didn't wash them and there was brown sticky stuff all over them.

Re: so....

As part of our wishing well gift for my shower, we got a gallon sized ziplock bag FULL of used teaspoons, tablespoons, plastic measuring cups and....wait for it...

A used, sticky medicine spoon for a baby.

The whole bag was really gross...there was sugar and flour and god knows what else stuck to everything..some of it had turned brown...it was NASTY.

And we don't have babies

Since it was a wishing well we don't know who it's from--DH and I were laughing because we think we may know (one of his great aunts) but we were like 'it's a wishing well! If you had no gift to give, no one would have known the difference!'

At first we thought it may have been a gag gift but realized it wasn't, because no one owned up to it.
