So how is it going so far (1st/2nd year of course)

Does anyone have any insight they`d like to share on how things are going the first year, how the adjustment was handled, have things been hard or has it just been a difficult year overall? Are things the way you expected/dreamed they`d be or did reality slap you in the face and marriage sort of sucks? I guess I was very, very naive when I got married because I thought the love was enough to conquer all and I`ve been disappointed several times within the last year and so by having faith in that concept. The overall adjustment was very difficult and we`re still working on figuring things out everyday. I also learned that any problem, no matter how insignificant, magnifies to like 300 percent after you are married just because the situation is more permanent, more in your face than when you`re dating. It also helps to have a supportive husband which clearly I don`t:( If things keep up the way they are currently, I`ll be searching out the unhappily married boards and eventually the recently divorced boards. And I was the biggest rah-rah girl for marriage, weddings, etc. BEFORE marriage.

Shamee...I am sorry things aren't working as well as you thought they would. Hang in there though. I lived with my husband for a little over a year before we were married so I guess the transition was not as difficult. You are right about how the things that were insignificant when dating aren't as insignificant now because of the permanence of the relationship as a married couple. Love may not conquer all...but it is certainly powerful and as long as that the love is still there, I am sure most things can be worked out. Hang tough!!

Hang in there girlfriend!!! We are going through the same CRAP!!! And, that is exactly what it is...CRAP!!! I have heard over and over again that the first year is the hardest, and I really hope it is true, because we can't fight like this for the rest of our lives!!! Maybe that is why there is not a whole lot of activity on the Newlywed board... No one wants to share their sob stories.

Sorry to hear it's been a tough year for you. It does get better. WE lived together for 4 years before getting married. It's tough adjusting but you do have to communicate and have understaing for each other. I know thisis going tosound corny, but I recommend reading mens are frommars women are from venus. both of you should read it, or if he won't tell him some of the important stuff. We have been together for 12 years, cince highschool. We know eachother very well and do everything together, but that book and many otherbooks like that helped me understnad more about him and us. Hang in there!!
