Southern State Parkway Question (traffic)

Anyone go towards inner long island for work using the Southern State Parkway. I live on exit 14- valley stream, and will be going to Hauppauge for the next month , have to be at work 9 am. I wondering what time i should leave the house, if there no traffic i can get there in 45-50 minz, ...around 7:30 am - 8:30 am is there a lot of traffic on the SSP?

Thanks

Re: Southern State Parkway Question (traffic)

There is definitely a ton of traffic at that time. I used to go from Valley Stream to Hicksville for high school at that time, and it was a mad house. I'd maybe give yourself an hour and a half-2 hrs?

Re: Southern State Parkway Question (traffic)

I live right off the Southern State (exit 25) so I take it alot (in both directions). The SS always seems to have traffic (I'm constantly hitting traffic at off hours). I used to be on the road around 7:30-8 and it was always traffic.

I'm actually leaving for work around 8:15 (I go from exit 25-19) so I'm going the opposite direction. I'll take a look on the other side for you

However, from my experience...there's always traffic on the Southern State

Re: Southern State Parkway Question (traffic)

The SSP is like a parking lot during rush hour. If you need to be there by 9, I'd leave no later than 7:15. You'll hit a ton of traffic by the Meadowbrook, Wantagh, and 135. After you pass 135, you should be pretty clear.

Re: Southern State Parkway Question (traffic)

On the SOuthern State today from 8:10-8:20 from exits 19-25...checked the opposite direction (going east)- there was alot of traffic but it was moving. Heavier in certain spots.
It can be very hit or miss based on the time.
