Spinoff to Italy Itinerary

If you were spending 6 days in Italy, would you do 2 in Rome, 2 in Florence, 2 in Venice?

What other variations would you do with a slightly longer trip?

I am in the midst of researching a trip to Italy, will probably go next May. I think that you would need at least 1 additional day in Rome.
I am thinking of...

Flying into Venice- stay 2 nights
Train to Florence- stay 3 nights
Train to Rome- stay 4 nights

Thank you so much! We booked our flights into Venice and out of Rome, so now we just need to arrange our travel between cities

We're contemplating driving, but we'll see how daring we get as it gets closer lol

We're going to Italy in September for 8 full days... leaving Friday night and then coming back the following Sunday night. We're doing:

Flying into Rome
3 days there
taking a train up to Florence
2 days there
renting a car from Florence, driving down to Pienza in Tuscany
3 days there
driving back to Rome, flying back to Ny!
