taking the initiative ;)

i'm taking the initiative to post since we're all bored

do you have / feel / do something that you thought was totally normal and that everyone else has/feels/does as well, but when you spoke about it, everyone thought you were nuts?

i have a few:
-- in my family, our skin literally hurts when we're sick. everyone who's blood-related to me gets like this ... but nobody else i know has achey back skin lol.

-- when i lay down, i can literally see my heartbeat in my belly (an inch or two below my bellybutton). it's totally normal apparently (according to a google search lol) but again, i don't know anyone else who has this.

-- sometimes when i lay down or get up too quickly, i hear this whooshing sound in my ears and it sounds like i'm hearing the blood flowing through my ears (it sounds like a heartbeat, but slightly more muddled). i thought everyone had this up until a few weeks ago. don't worry - google said that was normal too

your turn!

Re: taking the initiative ;)

ALL
OF
THOSE
THINGS
HAPPEN
TO
ME!!!

MY SKIN HURTS FIRST BEFORE THE BODY ACHES WHEN I'M SICK OR EVEN JUST UNDER THE WEATHER-SOMETIMES MY SCALP TOO.

THE HEART BEAT IN MY BELLY CAN MAKE A BOOK MOVE UP AND DOWN LIKE IT'S DANCING IF I'M LAYING DOWN

AND I HEAR THE GUSHING IN MY EARS- EVEN WHEN I'M LAYING DOWN ON MY PILLOW AND NOT ONLY CAN I HEAR MY BLOOD- I'M CONVINCED SOMETIMES I CAN FEEL IT!

(SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS LADIES @ WORK AND WE HAVE TO WORK IN CAPS)

Re: taking the initiative ;)

no worries - i can totally feel the blood whooshing through my ears too (sometimes) ... it's so creepy though ... when i first found out that others don't experience this, i freaked out and thought i had some weird disease

i'm not entirely sure what you mean by mounds under your tongue ... can you feel them with your tongue or only with a finger or whatnot?

I get the whoosing in the ears too

- when I drink to much right shoulder beings to hurt I have no idea why but at least i know when to stop

- when I am getting sick the back of my neck tingles

- gross but my own sweat makes my skin feel likes its on fire and a lot of times I wind up with hives but I have to sweat a lot for it to happen like when working out. It has been that way since I was a baby the doctors just say its a sensitivity

Re: taking the initiative ;)

Here's my confessions...

1. I absolutely HATE the way alcohol tastes...HATE IT. To me, it tastes like rotten milk. I've had 5 drinks my entire life and wasn't thrilled with any of them! Even at my wedding, my BM put gingerale in my champagne class! So, V, you're not alone!!

2. I have an allergy to the sun...that's why I have to wear sunglasses ALL the time outside because there's a chance that I may go blind from the sun! I break out in a rash (itchy) and then my body thinks it's an infection so I get a fever. I get many looks when I wear my sunglasses during rain and snow, but OH WELL!

3. My grandfather had a glass eye (he lost it when he was little) and growing up I thought that all Poppa's had a glass eye and stared at my BFF's grandfather for hours when I realized his wasn't glass!

Re: taking the initiative ;)

yea kinda i swear im not a crazy germaphobe but i really prefer it if people take their shoes off when they come in to my house. i was just raised that way, no one in my family ever wears shoes in the house. well anyway my in-laws came to me for thanksgiving and when i asked them to take their shoes off they acted like i was insane. so they just ignored me and for the entire week they were visiting they kept their shoes on THE WHOLE ENTIRE TIME!!! my skin was crawling!! that annoyed me because I feel like its a normal request that was not just ignored they acted like I was crazy for making it.

Re: taking the initiative ;)

As for the bumps under my tongue- they're like two huge mounds- one on each side-
I can feel them with my tongue and fingers and you can SEE them.
I didn't realize that people don't have these until my DH freaked out when he first saw them.
Turns out they're calluses from clenching/ TMJ

I do the weird noise to itch my throat too
loudly!

Also, I can sit in the mirror for HOURS and pick at my skin.
I also LOVE picking at DH's back= even when there's nothing there I pull the follicles out.
(he'd rather me do this than pick at my face.)

Oh- and I'd LOVE to say-
I don't find the taste of alcohol nasty in any way!

My DH does the itchy nose thing..I thought he was silly doing that until I started doing it too! haha

I have the heartbeat in my belly thing right above my belly button..It's my sensitive area (I call it my 'spot')..I can't put pressure on it at all...and DH can't put his arm around me there while I'm laying down, so awkward

Re: taking the initiative ;)

I have a sun allergy as well (I saw someone else said that!) called Polymorphus Light Eruption...I break out in hives if I'm in the sun for more than 2-3 days in a row...it was lovely on my HM

I'm OCD with light switches...they need to be in the 'up' position...I know, so weird! Also, my remote control needs to be on my coffee table pointing to the TV...DH thinks I'm insane...

This doesn't happen to me all the time but every once in a while when I drink (only happens on the first drink) I feel the alcohol moving through my arms and legs and it feels good/hurts at the same time...kind of like the way stretching feels good and hurts at the same time? I love when it happens. My friend coined it my 'alcohol ******'

I have an issue with touching my hair...I'm always smoothing it out...I saw myself on video for my rehearsal dinner and I was appalled...people say I always am...I need to stop!

ETA: Ok, so the word was blocked by LIW...it's alcohol 'the big O'

I am the same!!!! I go INSANE if DH sits on our bed in his jeans. I start describing all the places he'd been that day!! You were on the subway, and on the railroad and at work and now all those places are on our bed!!! He claims he doesn't sit all day haha.

I can't hug DH without it turning into picking at the skin on his back and arms. It's a horrible addiction.

I agree too! DH and I always take off our shoes but we don't tell guests to because my friends think I'm crazy with my cleaning ways as it is...I also def agree with the jeans on the bed! Couch too! Haha

Whenever I have an itchy mosquito bite and find myself scratching it, I end up smacking the bite really hard. People get SO horrified by me slapping myself, but it stops the itch!!

that's so rude of them!!!
personally, i don't like taking my shoes off when i go to peoples' houses (i don't like feet) but if somebody asks me, if course i would do it! it's common courtesy!

hahaha, i do that too sometimes.
or i stick my fingernail in the center of the mosquito bite and make a huge (fairly deep) indentation.

oh and ps: i'm somewhat obsessed with plucking hair ... it can be eyebrows, leg hair, doesn't matter - i just love plucking lol
