Re: very down on my self

don't be down on yourself! first of all, for whatever reason, boys can lose weight so much easier than us! super frustrating...

second of all, it could take up to a month for your body to start registering it's new pattern, through changing your diet and consistently exercising. in the beginning, you'll be replacing fat with muscle too, so while you might not see drastic changes on the scale, stick with it! your body will change!

some people say 'muscle weighs more than fat' but it's simply not true.

a pound is a pound.

the thing is, fat takes up more space than muscle, so if your weight stays the same, it could be that you are losing inches because you are losing fat and adding muscle! keep it up and you will definitely see results. it just takes time

Re: very down on my self

Nooooo pls dont be so hard on yourself!!!

It's only been 2 weeks, dont be discouraged. It really is not about the scale, but how you feel. Keep up w/the workouts and positive energy, you will see a difference.. i promise!

This is exactly what I was going to say. Sometimes it's not the number on the scale you need to worry about it. And it's not going to happen over night. Keep it up and you'll definitely start to notice a difference in the way your clothes fit!

some people say 'muscle weighs more than fat' but it's simply not true.

a pound is a pound.

this is true ... but not true.

yeah. a pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat.

just like the riddle... 'what weighs more, a ton of feathers or a ton of bricks' ... obviously neither. they both weigh a ton.

HOWEVER:

A pound (or five, or ten.. or what have you) of muscle takes up less room on your body than a pound of fat.

Here's a replica of 5 lbs of each:

So -- as Laura said -- if you've been exercising a lot -- your body is probably just not reflecting that on the scale in the way you wish it was.

If you stick with it -- you'll probably have a big loss coming to you in the next week or two.

And because of this (and yes, the scale does matter overall but not on a daily basis or even maybe weekly basis) it's the way your clothes are fitting that matters and how you feel that matters the most.

This why I always tell people who are trying to lose weight (who actually have a good amount of weight to lose like I did) to TAKE MEASUREMENTS.

Re: very down on my self

Becki that pic totally skeeved me out . yuk

I completely agree about its not being about the scale but about ur general feeling and how clothes fit.
when I used to work out regularly I never weighted myself and the one time I did the weight was down by like 3-4lbs, but my body was so different. I was wearing 2 sizes smaller.
and it def takes time for us girls
