weird that she didn't say anything ...

i found out today that one of my friends (one i've known since we were 7 years old ... she was one of my BMs) had surgery this past weekend .... what's sad is that i found out through her husband's facebook status update.

she doesn't really share things and never has ... but it's sooooo bizarre to me. it kind of annoys me too, that she's so closed off to the world (especially to me!)

anyway - does anyone else have experience with such people? i just can't believe i have to find out things through FB!!!


ps: she lives in Oregon so it's not THAT easy to stay in touch ... but when we talk, she doesn't really say anything anyhow

What's weird to me not so much that she didn't say something to you - because sometimes people are way private, especially with healthy concerns - but that she's seemingly okay with her DH posting about it online? If you can't talk to your friend about it, then why post anything publicly?

oh she's always been super-weird ...

when we were 15-ish years old, i went over to her house ... i asked where her new puppy was (her family got him about 6 months prior) ...
her: oh, we gave him away
me: really? when did this happen???
her: oh um ... about a month ago
me: why didn't you tell me?
her: you never asked


so yeah - she's always been a little weird.

I'm kind of like that too - but only with health things.

I had surgery last Janurary and I have a harder time telling my friends and family than posting it here.

Most of my friends don't even know I had a surgery and was on medical leave from work for 6 weeks. I just didn't feel the need to tell anyone or worry anyone.

Eh, maybe I'm strange too.

But if my DH posted it on facebook, I would have castrated him. That is not okay.

i'm a weirdo that tends to be overly private...but i would freak if my DH posted about things on FB! i even disabled my wall my last few weeks of pregnancy because i didn't want people to accidentally post details that i wasn't ready to share yet!

I found out that one of my friends (old roommates) from college was pregnant when through a picture of her sonogram on FB. I also found out she and her fiance went to civil hall and got married on FB, and I found out when her son was born on FB.

Let's just say I quickly realized she didn't quite think of our friendship the same way I did.

i'm totally private when it comes to FB ... i don't even like saying silly things like 'Mor is going to the movies' ... but when it comes to my friends & family, i'll tell then what's happening if they ask (well, maybe not health related to my friends ... though i might say somethihng after the fact)
