With all the cooking topics lately..I'm wondering...

Does anyone's DH cook?

Mine loves to, but he gets home later than me because he goes to the gym after work, and I get my butt out of bed to go in the morning So, usually it's too late for him to start cooking when he gets home.

I HATE to cook, so every now and again I'll throw something together, but mostly DH and I are terrible and eat out every night. I try to cook every once in a while, but I never know what to make and the whole process just takes forever

We had an agreement that I clean and he cooks, but we haven't fallen into a routine...I thought maybe we would after the wedding and honeymoon.....

I'm so jealous of all you cookers! I wish I enjoyed it like a lot of you girls do. I have tried to like it, but I just don't...sigh.

we both love to cook!

what is your favorite food? maybe start with that - you will enjoy making it if it's your favorite thing to eat!

Re: With all the cooking topics lately..I'm wondering...

Dh doesn't cook per se, but he gets home before me and will help me out to get dinner started to we can eat faster.
When i get to a certain stop on the train,i'll call and tell him to put water in a pot and start to boil water, or to turn on the oven and preheat it and throw whatever i left made the night before in so its already cooking by the time i get home.
But he won't actually 'cook' or prepare anything.

Although he is very good when he sees i'm tired or not feeling well he'll suggest we order out..

Re: With all the cooking topics lately..I'm wondering...

DH has only cooked me salmon (once) and his mom's stuffed lobster (handful of times) in the five years we've been together He will try to help but he is soooo anal about his dices, measurements, etc that it drives me crazy and slows me down.

The fun stuff we have done together is make sushi and clam bakes That's weekend stuff though, week nights it's up to me or we go out to eat.

Oh, he also was in charge of the stuffing last thanksgiving he is so hard on himself though, it's so adorable.

Re: With all the cooking topics lately..I'm wondering...

DH usually gets home way later than me so there's no time for him to cook so most of the time it's me. He does like to cook though and it was a joke before we got married that he'll be the chef since he cooked for me and i never cooked for him. bah, i wish it were that way.

We take turns. If he cooks, I wash dishes and vise versa.

DH thinks warming up leftovers in the stove is cooking!

I'm the cooker and he's the cleaner, it works well for us

This usually. I like cooking for him but sometimes I'm too exhausted so he will.

Re: With all the cooking topics lately..I'm wondering...

DH works crazy hours so he usually doesn't get the chance to cook. But he is a WAY better cook than me, and when he does get to make dinner it is always AMAZING. He says that he actually thought about going to culinary school but decided to go for engineering instead. Its probably a good thing for my waistline

Re: With all the cooking topics lately..I'm wondering...

He 'cooks' on certain occasions:

- His famous feta cheese and scrambled eggs (so good! even my nieces ask for it lol)
- Trader Joe's food that you can just put in the stove or microwave (this is his gourmet cooking )
- Sandwiches - tuna fish are his specialty

That's it. Hah. The rest is all up to me and I love every minute of it!

This is basically our situation. I get home at least an hour and a half after he does. I'll try cooking, but I'm not that good.

Same here... I don't enjoy cooking...I just cook because we have to eat...lol. And I hate doing dishes more...so I'd rather cook than have to do dishes.

Re: With all the cooking topics lately..I'm wondering...

From the minute we met, DH told me he was the typical male...the way to his heart is through his stomach. Being Italian, from a strict Sicilian mother, I had no choice but to learn to cook...my BFF says it's in my genes to cook, and cook a lot of food becasue (and this is a direct quote from her) 'you think that your husband is going to bring home 10 friends for dinner'

I ALWAYS cook...unless we're grilling and that's up to him. I've lost way too much arm hair and eyebrow hair to go near that dangerous thing! I don't want DH to cook inside because the mess is out of control!
