I know it is hard but I say pay and get on with your life. $$$ lesson yes but it will give you closure and not wondering about what she does etc..that causes more stress. I hope it all works out. DOnt worry there are good people out there you will just be more careful next time

Yeah, I know I will end up paying $$ to get out of this crap.

My only concern is that she will not get the forbearance (via forgery) and she will also not agree to strike a deal to let me pay the 24 payments (while keeping her credit up to par). If she will not agree to strike a deal to let me pay the 24 payments and get my money back from her (promissory note) then I'm not sure how to get out of it other than asking Sallie Mae if I can pay 25% and get rid of this mess totally.

I'm sorry, I got confused. She has to AGREE to allow you off the loan? That's horrible!

She's a miserable winch. I wish I had known this before I signed.

She is a practicing lawyer (or she was until she quit or got fired?). I filed a complaint with the disciplinary committee last fall. Nothing came of it but she knows that I am serious about this and I will get my cash.

The NY Disciplinary Committee did nothing. I'm hoping the miserable wretch forges my signature. If that happens I will definitely file another complaint with the committee. She had the nerve to mention in one of her e-mails that lying to Sallie Mae to get a deferment 'might be' a violation of her ethics.

I found out today that this chick applied for and received financing for plastic surgery!!! From what I gather she has not moved on it but she did get the financing.

She always said she needed and would get a face lift.

The witch won't pay her student loans but is willing to spend a few thousand to get a face lift!!!!

I am SO sorry about this mess. I just read through this whole thing and it made me so angry for you. This person sounds like a manipulative, impulsive, unrealistic, selfish, immature person. Who would put you in such a position after you put your neck out for them!?!? And to suggest you make the payment b/c you gave honest information about her current work situation. WOW---that takes some serious *alls.

I know this will wind up costing you $$. I'm so sorry. I do hope that you find a way to run (not walk, RUN) away from having this person in your life for a second longer than necessary. However, don't let her 'win' by being manipulative and irrespoinsible. She owes you. Make sure she pays.

I agree with an earlier post that good things do come around to good people. So sorry you are going through this.

If you do however payoff part of the loan, you should definetly take her to small claims court to get that money back, plus some interest!

Not sure if AGREE is the right word. I have to sign the forbearance form or she can't get it (unless she forges my signature). If we strike a deal and I make the 24 payments, Sallie Mae can generate a cosigner release form (only after 24 payments though).

I'm sure she will have to sign that form to have me released and her credit will have to be good enough to support the loan on her own.

So basically she has to agree to my terms - I make the 24 payments if she signs a promissory note saying she will pay me back whatever $ its takes (including in legal fees I may have to pay) & she will sign the cosigner release form once Sallie Mae can generate it plus do whatever necessary to make sure her credit rating stays at or above what it is now. I may even require her to give me a copy of her credit report so I can see the score and accounts.

The promissary note should also include some type of interest... why should she borrow money from you for free?

Also, have your draft, and have her sign, a confession of judgment if possible.

i would not pay a cent until i had fought it tooth and nail and sued the crap out of her.

It's the principal. I know with a wedding the last thing you need is this aggrivation, but I would sue before paying anything.

What would prevent you from bringing legal action??

After she forges the document, maybe get a personal loan and pay off the entire loan and then have her arrested for grand theft and forgery.

I can't believe I'm hoping someone commits a crime, but I really hope she tries to forge your signature so bust her butt. What an unbelievable story!

I'm really sorry that you have to go thru all this nonsense, but I hope that you are able get thru this with a minimal financial hit.
