I'm a Sunday bride and I have gone to a few Sunday weddings and found that they are great for people who have to get to you from far away. It is also good if you have family members who normally work on Saturdays. It will be fine.

Re: A sunday night wedding?
Hi Civic....Sure people would come, but they will be leaving early. Unless the day before is a major holiday. Why don't you go for that option?
Good Luck

Re: A sunday night wedding?
I am having a Sunday Night Wedding.Half of our guests are from Out of Town and if we had it on Saturday they would have to take Friday off from work to fly in. Now they can fly in Saturday and take off Monday. Either way, they have to probably take a day off so it didn't really matter.
We have already heard from guest who are coming on Thursday and staying until Monday-Tuesday. Point is, the people who really want to be there, will find a way.

I am having a sunday night wedding and most people who are traveling are turning it into a mini vacation...staying fri-mon. People will be there, have no fear!

Re: A sunday night wedding?
I think a Saturday night is more of a 'party night', but people will definitely be there, don't worry! Practically every wedding I've been to except my own has been on a Sunday night. But I think there should be an earlier schedule as opposed to a Saturday night so that your guests can get home at a decent time. Many people have a long drive home or they might not be able to take a vacation day and they still need to work in the morning.

Re: A sunday night wedding?
We went to a Sunday night wedding of DH's very good friend. We stayed till the end, but I was consumed with the fact that I had to get up and couldn't drink b/c we had a long drive home etc....I know a lot of girls have Sunday night weddings and it's true, the people who matter most will come and will stay (as we did) but I would much prefer to go to a Friday night....
I don't mean any offense to Sunday night brides at all....this is strictly my opinion and my experience with the 1 Sunday night wedding I have been to....

Re: A sunday night wedding?
I have to agree with Robeymuse. If the guests really want to be there, they will make accommidations to attend. My son is getting married on July 4th, a Sunday, a holiday and the ceremony is taking place at 8:30PM (sunset). All of our family and friends will be from out of town and I already have 4 couples with their families that have made their reservations. AND the STD's haven't been sent out yet.

Re: A sunday night wedding?
I wanted a Saturday night wedding, so the guests wouldn't have to worry about getting up for work. My FIL's wanted a Sunday, so that out of towners had time to travel. Luckily, we were able to book over Memorial Day weekend, so everyone got what they wanted - and we saved money too! GOOD LUCK!

I am having a Sunday night Wedding 6 to 11 at night. I really don't think it is that bad. People stay up and out much later on work nights for MUCH LESS important reasons than a wedding

Ditto..it's not bad at all.. My sister's was Sunday night and all the people pretty much stayed till the end. Out of towners left a little early so they could leave early in the morning to miss city traffic

Re: A sunday night wedding?
My mom keeps pushing the Sunday night as I have mentioned already, and she now said to do it maybe Memorial Day weekend, which I would be OK with except that my Fiance wont be. he doesnt want to get married in May for 2 reasons. 1. His father died in May (mothers day no less!) last year and his brother was married in May (hes divorced though). I like the idea of Memorial Day weekend but I dont know if I should bring it up to him, knowing how he feels? What do you guys think?

Re: A sunday night wedding?
I am also a Sunday bride. My opinion is that people will deal with it. Being Jewish, I can't get married on Friday night, or until late on Saturday, and I really want a nighttime wedding. The people who really want to be there will be. And if some people leave early, it won't be the most important ones.

Re: A sunday night wedding?
I am also having a Sunday night, same place as Jax430. I diidnt want a late Sat. night and I like nighttime weddings. Believe me, I did hear from some of my CLOSEST friends that their husbands didn't like Sunday nights but I thought to myself, too bad, just leave early, I won't be insulted!

Re: A sunday night wedding?
One of my all time favorite weddings was a sunday...we had so much fun..we had plenty of notice so we made arrangements to not work the next day and we had a BLAST>.actually Fh planned to work the next day, but ended up caling sick of a hangover..!!! We had so much fun...but the thruth is, if you give your guests plenty of notice, they can make arrangements, if they look at it as an inconveniience, then maybe they shouldnt truly be on your gues list..ours is a friday, my guests have had one year to plan and I aplologozed in the beginning and EVERYONE kept saying we wouldnt miss your wedidng for the world and they were thrilled to have a three day weekend.....and its the thruth..your guests will come no matter what day your wedding is..so do whats best for you and enjoy yourself!!!

Re: A sunday night wedding?
Civic24ex - I think the fact that your FH does not want to get married in May due to his father's death is very valid. Could you do July 4th, Labor Day, Columbus Day? He is going to be thinking about his dad on your wedding day anyway, but if the month of May holds bad memories for him, i would keep away from it. JMO!Welcome New Vendors
