Adult Only reception

Hi! Can one of your wonderful ladies please help me with Adult Only invitation wording? I'm assuming it should go on the reception card, but how did you ladies word it and where did you put it? I'm getting conflicting arguments some say it's tacky, but if we don't write it we'll have 150 more people at our wedding and we are already at 308!!

Thanks!!!

Adult Only reception - Long Island Weddings

It's not proper etiquette to put 'adults only' on an invite. I would suggest on you RSVP card to put:
__adults accepts...
__adults regrets...

Adult Only reception - Long Island Weddings

I've just seen it on the reception card where it says 'An Adult only reception will follow the ceremony.'

We're just saving any drama that wording may cause and have already told everyone invited that their kids won't be there. We've spread it by word of mouth and nobody has a problem with it and we're inviting 200 people.

This! We told the important people (family, bridal party) that it's adults only. We haven't encountered any problems with people wanting to bring their kids.

I'm stealing this idea... as well as mentioning that its 'adults only' somewhere on our wedding website... once we make one. That way we can put the site link on our STDs... and people will KNOW... if they don't already because I already have people booking sitters for the night.

My RSVP cards will probably be like:

'We have reserved _2_ seats in your honor.

_ of 2 will be attending/not attending' or whatever.

Lauren.. how did you word yours exactly?

Adult Only reception - Long Island Weddings

at the bottom of our invite it says 'adult reception immediately following' and I saw it that way on almost every invite we looked at. We'd have more children than adults if we let everyone bring their kids. Not to mention, no one ever watches their kids at big family events, I end up being the babysitter. Not this time!

Thanks for all your help! It's really sad that we have to add this in the invitition! Because obvi if your child's name is not written on the envelope they are not invited!! But, some people and our families aren't very sharp lol

This doesn't necessarily mean no children. My sister would gladly take her daughter somewhere rather than her husband.

true, but we dont know too many people with children, and addressed the outer envelopes to Mr & Mrs X for most of the ones that do.
we also spread the word to the people who have kids.
