**Don't expect to sleep more than 3 hours. Nobody warned me about this and I actually thought I would get some sleep the night before the wedding.

I was fully ready to dispute this when I hit the quote button but then I thought about it...and I can't! It's totally true! And I'm one of those who can sleep anywhere, any time and nothing keeps me up at night. Except getting married the next day.

this is so weird, I almost always have trouble falling asleep, it's just one of those things I have learned to accept.

I got so little sleep on the days leading up to the wedding, that the night before my wedding I slept like a baby. I went to bed at 9pm so of course, I was up at 4am on my wedding day pacing the apartment like an expectant father

Definitely re-applly lipstick!

I agree, there were so many pictures of me with no lipstick on

same here. and I re-applied CONSTANTLY!

the best thing you can do is give lipstick duty to your MOH or BM.

Re: ALREADY MARRIED BRIDES - Post day of advice, Please!!!!

Hello, I'm glad to see that people on this site have already been married. Maybe there should be a Forum like '2nd time around brides'. I too have already been married. The only advice I could think of is to not get too focused on every aspect of the day and remember why you are there in the first place. I had a great first wedding day. Everything went well, ooh..except for the marriage! I'm trying to find things that are different a little more low key, and not all of the traditional wedding things. As long as the food is good, everyone will remember the day. Hope this helped a little.

Re: ALREADY MARRIED BRIDES - Post day of advice, Please!!!!

The only thing that I would have done differently was seeing my husband before the ceremony. We got married and had reception in one place. We only had 1 hour to do our shots. We would have taken alot more pics and seen our coctail hour.

Make sure you smile. Everyone is taking pics.

Re-apply lipstick- It was hard to remember

I put everyones bills and tips in seperate marked envolopes. It just made things easier.

And the number one thing...... Don't stress!!! All my stressing was so not worth it. Just tell yourself something is going to go wrong So if it does happen, it won't be a big deal.

The 'already married brides' giving advice are mostly first time brides that were LIW brides-to-be and became LIW brides and graciously shared their advice for other LIW brides-to-be.

Happy planning and best wishes in your upcoming marriage!

Re: ALREADY MARRIED BRIDES - Post day of advice, Please!!!!

eat! taste the food. eat! i had a martini and almost passed out since i hadn't eaten and was having too much fun dancing. but i kept thinking, 'it's your wedding day, you can't faint now!'

also, make sure people know everything. for instance, give the hall a list of your guests, where they are to sit, your vendors' numbers and the such. give a list of vendors and numbers to your parents. make sure the person who is collecting your envelopes KNOWS that they are to do that. and bring extra tip money. a vendor may really do an amazing job and it would be a good thing.

kiss your husband in private. take a few minutes to be together. listen to the ceremony. take it all in. and don't flip your wig. it doesn't flatter you at all to get pissed off on your wedding day. remember, things could always be worse! just show your graciousness and go with it!

I just wanted to say I think I accidentally posted my reply thinking that you meant brides that have already been married once before. Didn't realize you meant brides that have already gotten married. sorry.

Re: ALREADY MARRIED BRIDES - Post day of advice, Please!!!!

For everyone who said to go to the cocktail hour (which I totally agree with and is very important to me)...how did you have enough time to take all your pictures? I am thinking of going to half of the cocktail hour in order to get the pictures done.
Thanks!

Re: ALREADY MARRIED BRIDES - Post day of advice, Please!!!!

Did I already reply on here?! Well, if not....here it is:

1: Reapply your lipstick; don't forget. I didn't. Positive side? I was having so much fun I totally forgot, even though I brought a lipstick (Oksana even GAVE me one!) and a compact. By the cake cutting photos, it was super light.

2: LISTEN during your ceremony. All through the planning, all I could think about was the party! Well, the ceremony and the words spoken that day in church were the best part of the whole day. All the emotion is there.......at that point.

3: Make out all your envelopes/tips beforehand. Then, we gave them to my dad to hold onto. We were never bothered w/money questions or anything.

4: Step back and enjoy your hard work. Eat, even though you will suddenly have no appetite and be too psyched to eat!

5: Dance the whole night away!

6: If this applies to you, thank mom and dad and tell them how much you love them. As I read somewhere, this is a sweet but sad day for them. My parents were very emotional. My dad chose to deal with the emotions by drinking martinis all night but understand how they are feeling.
