Hey trishandeli I'm in DC too.

I came here for school and just never left. FH and I love this area. The only thing that I miss about NY are my family and friends. I just wish that I could move them all down here too.

what school did you attend? i went to american university and moved to tysons corner after graduation.

I went to George Washington. I've lived in DC, VA and now I'm in MD (chevy chase) with FH.

I live in Dallas, Texas. My FH is from New York. I have been making trips to NY to meet with vendors here and there. It is DEFINITELY thanks to the LIW ladies that I have found the majority of my vendors. Otherwise, this process would have been very tough.

My biggest dilemma right now is concerning the wedding itself. I would rather NOT drive to New York from Texas (24 hr drive, without stops). I am trying to make favors / decorations for the reception etc. However, the problem is I don't have anywhere to ship it, therefore I have to either CARRY it to NY or drive to NY. Anyone have creative ideas?

None of FH family lives in NY?... can you ship to the reception hall?

All of FH's family lives in NY. Sometimes you know better than to ask certain people for favors, i fyou know what I mean.

How is everyone taking care of their marriage license I still have a lot of time before I get it, but if anyone has any helpful hints please let me know. I don't want to wait last minute and its going to be hard trying to schedule leave and be able to go to NY. If anyone has any advice Please let me know I'd greatly appreciate it, Thanks.

We're doing ours next month (2 mos before the wedding). We're going in for my shower, menu tasting, meeting with the rabbi, etc. I'm pretty sure that if you can't get to NY until right before your wedding that you can do it just a few days ahead.

here's a link for nyc marriage licenses. i am getting married in queens, so it works for me. you may need to check out nassau or whatever county you will be married in.

the license is only good for 60 days so it's definately a challenge!

I live in Wisconsin. FH and I went home last September and looked at places and booked one. My mom has booked everything else for me, thank goodness. I got my dress here and I will bring it with me for the wedding. I will probably do wedding bands, invitations, wedding jewelery, veil, shoes, and honeymoon from here. It has been hectic as well. I haven't been home again to meet with vendors to tell them what I want so I have to plan it pretty soon.

You don't have to get your marriage license in the county you are getting married in. We live in NJ, but got our license in Queens and got married in Suffolk. You can go anywhere in NYS to get your license.

Im originally from Oceanside.... and living in Alexandria, VA -- planning is torture
we're up here this weekend to make the rounds and get the last bit of stuff ( vendors) done-- without crazy worrying... 5 months to go!!!!

my parents are still here and theya re taking care of the Responses .. too much for us to handle hahahahaha

I am planning my wedding from Georgia, too! We moved here over the summer and booked all the big stuff before the move - that has made life a lot easier. I am doing invitations, shoes, veil down here and luckily will be able to go back to NY the month before the wedding to finalize everything

yep grew up in Lindenhurst, NY now live in Valrico, Florida, it is really hard to plan, thank god i have 2 weddings this year in ny, so i will be able to see some vendors when i am there for the events!

Outside of NY? Try outside of the U.S.!!!

I grew up on LI and after college moved to Denmark to be with FH (who is from Denmark). It's ok, but I still miss LI and all of my friends and family.

It has been pretty stressful trying to fit all the wedding planning in when I am back in NY.
