I had a harder time finding mine than my daughter did finding her gown. I finally found it at Elegant Bride on Willis Ave. This is an excellent thread because once my daughter's wedding is over I need to look for a gown for my son's in Nov. I am dreading doing this again.

Just a little vent on this topic....I don't get why most stores only have MOB/MOG dresses in sizes from 2-14 and very little in 16 and up. Even thought most of the other dresses go up to size 26. A majority of weddings i have been to you will find mothers who are bigger woman....and not smaller.....i just think it would make more sense to have every dress in two sizes (say like an 8/10 and 20/22).

I felt this way about my dress too...even though I am a size 8 and all the samples fit me, I was once at a store with two heavier girls who had to have their dresses pinned to them...I don't think that is fair when these woman are paying so much for these dresses and it is one of the most important decisions a bride makes in her wedding.

Have you tried The Elegant Bride? It's in Albertson right down the street from Filly's (which is also really nice!). My mom got her dress there a few weeks ago and I thought they had georgous dresses in all styles in all price ranges! Some were more conservative and some were very sexy with everything in between! And I think thier prices are really reasonable!

My mom lives in Florida and was not planning to buy a dress up here but saw it there randomly and loved it so she got it on the spot! And they do carry plus size dresses too!

I agree that Hope is lovely to work with. She is also the seamstress. I saw my gown in two other shops (and one even offered free alterations) but I bought it there because she is making a shrug for me out of the shawl rather than trying to talk me out of it. One of the saleswomen in another shop had the nerve to say 'After one drink you won't care what your arms look like'. How do they think this would make you want to shop from them?

My FMIL just ordered hers at Boutique Elle. There is one store in Rockville Center and another in Woodbury and the city, I believe...

my sister didnt want a typical moh dress since shes older and had a kid, so we found her a nice MOB dress that wasnt matronly at Lord and Taylor in gardencity(clearance too From 200 down to $55) and then fmil found a nice one there for $55 also
