Re: anyone NOT doing a unity candle?

I didn't want to but FH did...funny- there are more things was I DIDN'T want to do that he asked for!! We got a pretty set tho- the Rev who's marrying us said that it takes a few moments so it'll be OK.

Re: anyone NOT doing a unity candle?

i decided not to:
-i dont feel like spending 50-100 on the candles and the holders and i dont feel like making my own

-they are a fire hazard- i just saw a wedding where the candle fel ontp the floor lit and almost burned the brides dress

-i dont wat to make the parents get up from their seats

We got ours from Michaels and they were about 25-30 and the stands were cheap too, Our Rev told us specifically not to buy the candles from a religious store bc they are a rip off! (I love our Reverend!)

I'm pretty sure our parents will all stay seated- lighting the supid things will be enough with the two of us!

My mom's all worried about the fire hazard now tho! She was just lurking on the boards!

Re: anyone NOT doing a unity candle?

the church i'm at doesn't allow it. They say it's redundant. the ceremony and the rings symbolize unity so there is no need for a candle. one less thing for me to buy!

I'm not, either. I am going to have 'pew markers' though, I think they're pretty (really tall candlesticks)

What do pew markers and Unity Candle have to do with each other????? Pew markers are just for decoration - Unity Candle has a beautiful meaning and takes place during the ceremony?????

Re: anyone NOT doing a unity candle?

I'm not sure yet. I want a pretty quick ceremony too but I like the sybolism behind the unity candle. I guess I'll ask FH - which I never thought to do before this.

The ceremony is the most important part of your wedding day - I want mine to be a good 40 minutes! It's what the entire day is all about - I think it's like Christmas - people get carried away with all the commercialized stuff and forget what the real meaning of the day is!!!
