Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

I'm with Jennbaby on this one.

Check out the posts under 03 - they're already having problems about who belongs there and who feel left out or unwelcomed. Its not good.

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

Lisa, I think the problems started b/c September '03 brides were looking forward to having their own board, and LI weddings labeled the board as '03. While the '03 brides weren't looking to have their own board, some still posted there (including me), because it came as a nice surprise. But I think September brides want their own board, so the confusion started and LIWeddings wasn't around to police us... I am hoping that they read this thread soon!!!

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

I know thats why it started, but thats my point - why do certain brides need their own board? Where's the community in that?

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

I totally agree. One board was better for BHB. I don't think it's necessary to have so many boards just based on the month or year.

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

So what are we asking for then? No months up there? No year boards up there? Curious... LOL! It was funny... yesterday I was surfing the parenting board up there and they wanted a TTC board up on top..... Here is the thing.... While I love all these boards, IT is LI Weddings. The questions of the day is - How do they effectively organize the top to adssist ladies planning their weddings and allow people to help others who have had their weddings already!!! Month boards, seasons, specific vendors?...

I have to admit- I wanted the board, but it is def. not worth this much controversy and for any ladies in here to be upset!!!

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

Lisa, sorry, I have no answer for this one
I have no problems with timed threads (i.e. 9/03 thread) and boards for the specific items that are on the side (storybook/slimdown/parenting).

But if there is a tab for each month, it would be useless to me, b/c now my audience has decreased from 100some brides to less than 10... I may as well move to the knot/wedding channel for that. Or I would have to invade May/June or August boards for my July wedding, if they're more popular.

Tabs for years may be usefull for brides who have weddings far away (a 2 year engagement for example), but I don't see a reason anymore to have the 2003 board.

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

I'm not upset at all - it really doesn't affect me. I can just see that its already causing problems and they're only going to increase as we go...

just voicing my opinion in this debate.

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

I wonder if LIW new design will incorporate all months for the next couple of years. That will be really crazy, though since I thought it was better with just 1 BHB board, otherwise it's endless. That's why I'm thinking that the new website that they've been talking about will be formatted differently.

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

I wasn't upset when Sept. brides asked for the board. I was more a bit upset by curly's post under the 'don't get mad' title:

'....but to all the non 9/03 brides please note you are more than welcome here but this board was to be dedicated to the 9/03 brides who reached 1000 posts a few days ago. Much like the May brides sowwy chowwy'

I felt outsted and unwelcomed, irrelevant whether or not the tag was named properly or by mistake.

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

In my opinion, the site was MUCH better with one main board for all brides. Everyone was posting in the same place so it was easier to share ideas and get advice. The more boards that are created, less people will be posting on the BHB. The site will become even more segregated and it will be difficult to find information.

The main reason why I like LIWeddings better than the other sites is because there is (was) only one board, so there was a feeling of community rather than segregation.

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

The only reason i like having an 04 brides board, is so we can talk to each other to see who is up to what in the planning. SInce its so far away (it seems) i like to know what I should be doing. If we discussed it in the BHB board, i feel the posts would get lost.
Thats just my opinion.
But to have a whole board for just one month is a little unnecessary i think.

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

You know, it's really great for you all to label the 'month' boards. Let me point out the obvious: There is a Newlywed board, for those already married, a Parenting board for those who are TTC, a Slim Down board for those watching their weight, oh and let's not forget a StoryBoard for the book club !!!!!!!
. . . Now, does all this all of this fighting over the 'month' board make any sense in the great scheme of things? Why not just get rid of all of them if that's the case?

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

Liz, I think there is a difference, in that all the brides are in the same process, so to speak. However not all brides want to discuss books or lose weight... So the reason why the months have been singled out is b/c other boards are more topic oriented, whereas the monthly boards are timeline oriented...

If people want to have more time oriented subdivision, maybe its better to divide the boards into 6 months or less left, 6 months to one year left, and more than one year. Then people can discuss what is relevant to them at the time, while not being narrowed down to a specific month.

But overall, I would prefer just one main BHB board.

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

Marches around with picket sign chanting *One Board, we want one board* Ducks out quickly before she gets pelted with tomatoes I loved it when it was one board, but since this does not affect me anymore, what can I say I hope everyone's questions gets answered, wherever they post them. All the best to everyone and happy planning

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

The 'months' boards are not a standard. It started out as being a prize for the most posts ever in LIWeddings history.
Then after that, LIW got bigger, and new boards started. It's all about change and growth. It won't stay the same exact way forever. It's up to LIWeddings when they think it's out of hand, then they won't create any more. But I still think it's wrong to single the month boards but okay w/Slim Down, NRW, etc. ... when the month board was a PRIZE

Re: Are they getting rid of the BHB Board?

Ok look, I go to my May girls for advice about my upcoming May wedding. We are on a similar timeline, and at the same point in our planning because we are all going through the same stuff RIGHT NOW. Having that board is valuable to me because I can get an answer fast and find it easily because my May girls find my question fast. The BHB board has gotten huge, and sometimes it takes a few bumps to get a reply now. A May 04 or prospective May bride is welcome to pop her head into our board to ask us about flowers, colors, prices...and whatever other point she may be at, because we have a wealth of knowledge about getting married in the month of May.

I haven't stopped posting on the BHB board and I don't plan on it. When I know the answer to something, I give it, when I have a question I ask it. I love the responses I get, and I love the conversation. But when we get into specifics about timelines and what not..I value the May board.

I do think it should be streamlined though, and if we are going to break the board up by times....a line has to be drawn. I am very biased here because I feel like the May board should stay, because it was awarded to a first, first thread to reach 1000 posts. It was a gift (as Liz said)...and that's all. I think it would be insane if we were to have 12 boards for every month. And years are too general because it loses the purpose I discussed earlier. So...maybe this board should stay the way it is...PERFECT. Ron and Liz designed a great site, and I think we all just have to learn how to use every part of it.

I think we should just continue to use the boards as they have been awarded to us, the BHB board is still very active if not more so. It's definitely become busier here than when I started...so I just don't see the issue at all!

Ok, that was officially my longest post and I'm spent. Whew.
