Just wanted to explain my reasoning..
I was on the fence and happened to speak with our (now) officiant and she recommended it. Our ceremony is at our hall, and the CH starts 30 minutes faster the ceremony starts. I'm not missing any of that CH! Seriously, tho, our wedding is a Friday night and our officiant said that she has seen it happen A LOT that esp. on Fridays people get to a hall late, between getting out of work and traffic..
I know the WM will serve iced-tea & water and have a comfortable place for our 'on-time' guests to sit ..I'm also going to tell some people who I know will be there on time the ACTUAL start time.

Since the ceremony is in the hall I would def. put a half hr earlier. Plus they will be comfortable if they come early since its not at another location like a church where they wont serve refreshments. But you know your guests...

JMO: My family is always late so I would put Half hr ealry if I was in your situation.

I put the real time. My family & friends are usually on time & would not be happy about waiting around!

My catering hall suggested I put a half hour earlier... I didn't listen and go figure...everyone was on time!

What pissed me off was the girl getting married at 12 put 11am....Thankfully I knew someone in her wedding party and was able to arm WM with warning and they put on extra valet....

PSA - Put the real time...especially if you're getting married at a hall where more than one wedding is occurring!

I would probably go even 1:30p, its ok for everyone else to be early....

I put 15 minutes earlier...
We are having trumpeteers there earlier and the on timers will be listening and chit chatting

hopefully no one will be late but fhs family ALWAYS is

Thank you for all your input and votes. I had been tosssing around making the ceremony 15 min earlier on invites only.

I will not be worrying about later comers, but at the same time, I am almost always on time and the LAST thing I want is the have to wait out in the limo w/ my dad while the straglers are rushed to sit down so I can come into the church.

I have been to a wedding that said 2:30, when it was really at 3. I didn't know it was a cushion. When FH and I arrived at the church, the ONLY person there was the photographer, who was waiting for the tardy groom!

FH and I talked about it, we're going to put 1:45. At least FH and others will be there as on time guests arrive. And I will be arriving at 1:50-1:55, so won't be too much delay for the on-timers.

We are always running on CP time, so I put 1/2 hour earlier than it is really starting.

Our ceremony is at 3:30. I put 30 minutes earlier 3:00pm .

I know some of my family will be really on-time and I feel bad, but a lot of them I'm sure would make it their goal to arrive at the time that we walk down. I'll let them wait. I waited enough for this day, they can wait half hour more..

I put the correct time on my invites, but I have definitely heard of people putting an earlier time to make sure guests arrive on time.

I would put 1:30. People always show up late. And I doubt that the ones that come early will be annoyed, they'll probably stand around and make small talk with each other.
