I am definately putting 1:30 on my invites for a 2:00pm ceremony start time. My family is infamous for being fashionably late for everything. its rediculous. Last thing I want is someone walking in while Im walking down the asile (although, no matter what.. people will STILL be late)

I'll tell people the wedding starts at 3:30, but the time is 4:00

definatly put 1/2 hour in advance.
I may have to lie to FH and tell him an hour in advance -
he's late to everything!!!

I put the real time. My family & friends are usually on time & would not be happy about waiting around!

I have never heard of this.
My wedding is at a church so I'll put the correct time.

Maybe if I was in the position of having the ceremony at my hall I may put an earlier time,only b/c it would be annoying for people to walk in late.

I was at a wedding where this happened (at the hall) and the clikity click of a woman's heels on hardwood floors totally distracted the entire ceremony. I thought daggers were going to fly out of the bride's eyes!

I wouldn't lie. I would be totally p i s s e d if I showed up at a wedding and had to sit there for 30 minutes. If someone is late then they are late - that is not my problem. If they want to be there to see me get married they will be there. I am not going to make my guests uncomfortable by making them wait and have them think that it is Me who is running late.

I agree! There's no reason why the on-timers should be punished and have to wait an extra 30 minutes so the stragglers could come in. I'm one of those always-show-up early for an event and I'd be mad if I had to sit in a church for 45 minutes because the bride decided to cushion her invite time.

My parents went to 2 weddings this past fall and both said to be there so early and they were so annoyed that they had to wait a 1/2 hour extra. I think the earliest I would put is 15 minutes before the start time. People SHOULD know better then to arrive late...but there are always stragglers...no matter what time you put.

I put 2:00 p.m. but the ceremony starts at 2:30. I know my family so they'll probably still be late..

Im putting down the real time of the ceremony...I have no time to worry about people who will arrive late...thats their problem...

I put the correct time. The late people are in my family, and most of my family is either in the BP or has to be there early anyway. So I'm not too concerned. If people are late, that's their problem.

I'm not going to change my invites or schedule for them, they should be changing their schedule for me that day!

I did 15 minutes earlier, but I was debating between that and just putting 'ceremony begins promptly at 11:30...'

My ceremony starts at 6:15...but We put 6 on the invites.

I didn't think of it as a lie...more like a cushion.

I'm being honest about the time, it's their responsibility to get their on time. I'm usually very prompt, I would be ticked if I arrived early, what I normally do anyway, only to find out that it starts a half hour later.

Heck No, My family is always on Puerto Rican time (hr later than actual star time)... I put the CH starting at 6:30pm in stead of 7pm (actual time)

OMG, we say that all the time in my family too. We're all on PRican time!!!

I put 1/2 hour early for ceremony but the right time for CH and reception. But only b/c my family is ALWAYS LATE!!!

I would lie just to get people early to the church to prevent tardiness. I know some of my family member are like that.

I put 5:00 for a 5:30 ceremony. I did this mainly because we have OOT people that are staying at a hotel, and I wanted a cushion in case they got lost, or the shuttle had to take more trips because people weren't ready.
