Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
We are paying for the wedding ourselves (our choice--my parents were willing ot pay for it), but both set of parents are giving us a significant amount of money. So--I did include both set of parents on the invites.

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
We are not, they are not contributing $$ towards this wedding at all, not even the RD.

We did 'Together with their Families' since we are all helping to pay for the wedding

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
I just found out I have very little choice in this. The tradition is.. his family is announced as well as mine. Going so far as to use his mother's maiden Family Name as well as mine. (bet my stepmonster will love that). We are taking his father's name off. Or we're trying to, but it would look strange to have one on his side and two on mine.
They go so far as to ask how many siblings we have and where we are amongst the kin. Jim is the oldest, Im the youngest.
*shrug*
Who knew getting invites was going to get so complicated!?

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
i am probably going to say something like 'son of ....' and 'daughter of ...'. we are paying for the whole thing ourselves, but i would use both names even if we weren't.

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
I haven't thought about it yet, but I 100% sure we are putting their names on. Our parents are kinda splitting the cost, so I think it's the right thing to do.

his name the son of
his parents' names
this is the order of contribution so I think it will work....we will see.

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
My parents are contributing $$ to the wedding, although our invites will say something like 'Together with our parents', that's just the way I wanted it.

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
Our parents are splitting the cost of the wedding, so both will definitely be on the invitation - they are the hosts.

We don't plan to since we are paying for everything ourselves.

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
No way. FI parents aren't even coming to the wedding so I don't think I need to put their names on the invite. Also - forget about contributing - they have never even mentioned the wedding to me except to say it is not really valid unless the ceremony is entirely their way (they do believe in interfaith weddings).
They are planning another wedding for us for their family so it can be done the 'right' way. My parents will probably pay for that as well and I don't even think they are invited to go!!!! My parents said they would come but his family seemed shocked and are currently telling me the wedding may have to be on the one weekend my parents can't make it.
Ok - enough venting for me. I think it's clear where I stand as far my personal situation is concerned!!!

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
We had to put his parents names on the invite. We had a big brugh ha, ha fight/disagreement throughout the entire wedding planning period about this and the wording. After we sent our invites to our international guests we only had my parents names on the invite. Later I received an e-mail from my aunts and uncles who think my Fi (now DH)'s parents were deceased based upon the wording of the invite with no groom's parents' names. It looked bad which our guests made comments about it.We went back to press to include both parents names. Both sets of parents are still married but does not seem happy in their marriages. So we had to spend more money to re-print both parents names all over again.

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
We put both parents names right at the top. Personally, I think it is a slap in the face not to include his parents (if yours are included). At least having 'son of…' at the bottom seems appropriate. I think this is a respect issue - not a $$ issue. My parents are divorced so it was even more complicated, but I really wouldn't have had it any other way. We did:Mr. and Mrs. David Smith (my dad and stepmom)
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones (my mom and stepdad)
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas X (his parents)
Request the honor of your presence
At the marriage of their children...

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
We are not putting any parents names on the invites. We decided to put... Together with our parents. This way everyone is included. I think there would have been too many names to put on if we listed parents and then I would have had a hard time just putting my parents because my father probably would have wanted my stepmother on there and that was not happening. This was sort of the easy way out!!

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
We paid for our wedding ourselves, but really wanted to acknowledge our parents in some way.Our invitations said:
With a love and respect
for the completeness
we shall gain as a couple
and with the blessings of our parents
we will be joined in marriage....etc. etc.
