Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
Wow...I'm in the minority! We did very traditional with just my parents names. We had no issues.

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
Yes but not in a way that makes people think FI's father is paying for wedding. We are paying for 3/4 of the whole wedding but my dad is footing the reception only. FI wanted his dad on the invitation - he felt it was right - so we did:Mr. Father of the Bride
requests the honour of your presence
at the Nuptial Mass uniting his daughter
Me
to
My fiance
Son of Mr. Father of the Groom
in Holy Matrimony
That way both are mentioned but it's obvious who's paying, even if my dad is not paying for the whole thing. Also, the rsvp's are coming back to me and FH. But I did that because I'm neurotic
and wanted to know right away who is coming and not instead of calling my dad and asking him every day.

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
We are writing: Together with their families' I have a 'Jerry Springer' family. My dad is twice divorced- my real mom has mental issues and my step mom is a real &%^*(. I have a civil relationship with my mom but far from cloe and I hate my stepmom with a passion- and she raised me from 11.my dad now has a girlfriend that is a sweetheart. I wish he met her the first time...i know i eouldnt be here but it would have saved so much trouble.
Anyway so its my dad and his girlfriend
My fiance- his mom and dad are divorced- both his parents are remarried but he doesnt really have a relationship with his Dad. Our priest, who is so cool and down to earth, was amazed at the complexity of our families.
Both his mom and my dad/girlfriend are giving us $$ for the wedding but we are paying most all ourselves.
SO that is why I am starting off my invite with the above. Wow it felt good to vent!

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
We actually had to do it a little bit differently. His parents are footing a little over half the bill, and we are paying the rest. My parents only paid for my dress and the yarmulkas. That was all they could afford. So out of respect, (and because its kind of Jewish tradition) we put all names, but listed it sort of opposite of traditional:his parents invite..
marriage of their son to
me, daughter of
my parents
RSVP's are coming back to his parents.
Talk about going against the norm. LOL.

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
We didn't put any parent's names on the invitation. Mainly because my parents are divorced and my dad is remarried, my mom isn't but has been with my 'stepdad' for 17 years so too many sets of names. Plus when we first did invitations we planned on paying for everything ourselves but in the end my IL's gave us 2 very large checks as our gift to help us out and my mom & stepdad gave us our HM

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
We are using 'together with our parents'..His parents are divorced - Father remarried and my parents are divorced - both remarried. Too many names to put on the invitation. We are also paying for the whole wedding ourselves.

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
I am puttingBrides parents
and
Grooms parents
I adore my ILs!!! and I know what its like be have an IL (My SIL) who leaves all her inlaws out of her wedding regardless of who is or is not contributing! And I am rather traditional so I like the parents names on it instead of the together with our parents wording!
This is just my opinion though!

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
We are doing...........Mr. & Mrs. (my parents names) request the honor of your presence in the marriage of their daughter (my name) to (FI name) son of Mr. & Mrs. (In-laws names).
I think its a nice way to include both names but since my parents are paying for it I feel they should do the actual inviting.

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
We are putting both parents names. Even though my parents are paying for most of the wedding his parents are paying for the photographer/videographer and some other things. I just thought in my situation it is the right choice.

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
even though both sets of parents are contributing, my dad passed away, FI dad remarried and has barely congratulated us. Thus we are doing, ' Together with their Parents, bride and groom....'

LOL funny Question IM NOT because they refuse to pay a dime and invite people that my FH doesnt even know. They didnt give me address so i went through their phone book and they have no address in there either!!!! If u dont send them a christmas car then they dont need to be invited! But best of all When my FSIL got married ThEY threw a FIT cause Her FH/DH dad didnt pay anything So he was not allowed on the invite. So im doing it out of spite basically!!!

I am. They are not really contributing $$ to the wedding but they have made me feel like their daughter ever since I moved here so I wanted to include them as well.
this is how I felt...just b/c DH's mom couldn't contribute like my parents could doesn't mean she shouldn't be on the invite...
I put DH's name son of MIL's name

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
He$$ NO I am not - My family is traditional and I would have considered it if things were different but FMIL likes to be traditional and so she is happy just to be MOG and doesn't want to be on the invite.FFIL and FSMIL are a totally different issue - FH WOULD NOT put them on the invite if they paid him. His is uncomfortable enough that my family is paying for the whole wedding - except the traditional (well the rings, honeymoon and rehearsal dinner) which they expected would come from either FH's family or FH. FMIL CAN'T help us and we KNOW she would if she could she is a very sweet women and tells me I am the daughter she never had (she does have another daughter in law too) BUT FH isn't even sure he wants his father and stepmother there.
He asked them to HELP us pay for the rehearsal dinner - since that was his responsibility and he was a student living off loans. They told him - 1) they have never heard of anything so stupid as grooms responsibilities and let my parents pay for it since they are paying everything else what is another 2000$ to my family 2) they are building a new house and replacing EVERY PIECE of FURNITURE in it and between that AND the INTERIOR DECORATOR they just can't afford to give us 2000$ (we actually asked if they can't pay to HELP us with like 500 or 1000) - 3) They are getting REMARRIED for the 21st anniversary 4 DAYS AFTER OUR wedding with a church and reception so their extra money is going to that - (Mind you this is a couple who traveled ALL THE WAY to chicago and DROVE THRU Michigan - for a two week vacation too see Jerry Springer- they take several a year - and DIDN'T even tell him or try to visit him)
Plus they told him they have NO intention of showing to the rehearsal OR rehearsal dinner anyway - they also won't come to our ceremony IF there is any time inbetween - and have basically told us they HATE our wedding etc.
SO why should I put them on the invites....SORRY girls for the vent - just upset to see FH so upset when he tries hard to please him and he could care less.

Re: Are you putting his parents names on the invite?
we just got our invitation back and they read: Mr. & Mrs. (my mom and stepdad names) request the honor of your presence in the marriage of her daughter (my name) to (FI name) son of Mrs.....and the late Mr........ His father is deceased and his mother has never dated or looked at another man. Out of respect, we included his mom's name, even though she is not contributing to the wedding. (she is paying for the RD though) My mom had no problem with it, so I didn't either.Welcome New Vendors
