Personally, I'm not a fan of Bill Mahr. I don't see how commentary like this helps in any way whatsoever. I see Bill Mahr using this tragedy as a way to spew his political liberalism. Why hasn't Bill Mahr commented on the actions, or inactions, of New Orleans' Mayor or the Governor of Louisiana? Why isn't congress being held responsible for not coming into session earlier when they are the only fragment of the Federal government that can dole out money? Why isn't Clinton being blamed for some of the responsibility of 9/11 when during his presidency there was ample information about the sleeper cells and the devastations they can cause. He!!, they even had pictures of 3 of the masterminds taking target practice out a Calverton.

Sorry...I had to vent.

I will just say that there was a failure at every level of government. The issue is that the President is responsible to the people of this country. Regardless of protocal, we all saw on television what was and wasn't happening and our federal government seemingly turned a blindeye for a couple of days. Is it all Bush's fault? Of course not, but lets not pretend that he did his job effectivly.

As far as Clinton and 9/11, Clinton did have to testify in front of the 9/11 commision. If you read the report you will find that Clinton and his adminastration get their share of blame.

Even so, it should be noted that when they came into office, the Bush Administration's (specifically Paul Wolfowitz) main criticism of Clinton's Foreign Policy was his 'Obsession with catching Osama Bin Laden.' Apparently Wolfowitz did not think Al Quaeda was enough of a threat to have wasted so much effort on.

That is, until they blew up the WTC.

and to add- Clinton was trying to bomb Bin Ladens hiding spot - but was accused of trying to create a diversion from the Monica scandle!

Just to clarify, I was not saying that Clinton didn't make attempt and consider the threat of Bin Laden to be an important matter. I was just pointing out that people often wonder why Clinton doesn't get any blame and in the official report of the 9/11 commission Clinton and his administration are held accountable for mistakes that they made and signs that they missed.

Completely agreed, Heidi.

I did feel it was important to note that Bush's people thought he did too much, when it's quite clear now in hindsight that he didn't do enough. That's rather ironic, don't you think? I mean, if Clinton didn't do enough, that means Bush's people did even less to protect us from a known threat.

You're entitled to your own opinion. Say what you like about Bush. I don't care... I do think it's completely unproductive to insult those that have opposing viewpoints. There are plenty of conservative politicos out there with far more knowledge than any of us, I'm sure about politics... To claim anyone who likes bush is uneducated is not only wrong, but pretty offensive. And, since there is only one conservative mainstream network out there, I don't think you can really argue that those that are the conservative side are the ones being spoon fed.

Trust me there are plenty of both conservative and liberal publications out there for anyone, liberal or conservative, to be spoon fed. The issue is not where you get your information, but how you choose to decipher the bits of fact that occasionally slip into our media.

heidla -- you're right that anyone can be spoonfed. i just found the previous post stating that anyone who likes bush is basically brainwashed to be too much! i mean fox is the only nightly news of the major news networks that has an R bias ... the media in general tends to have a liberal bias. Each bias affects stories headlines and slants for both sides. if i watch fox, it's not so i can open my brain and have thoughts deposited. it's actually so i can hear more than one side and try to make my own judgements having heard both sides.

currently i believe the media has been scared into submission by the government right and if they dare question anything they lose access. it's very difficult to weed through the information because a lot of it is just sugar coated bs, in my opinion, of course...

if Bush farts, its in the newspaper. i really dont think the media is covering up much for him, or that theyre being bullied by him and his administration- like malbert said, i think its quite the opposite. so i'm not really sure what your response meant?
