Blusher, does Dad take lift or fiance?????

I'm not sure about this veil blusher thing. What does it symbolize when Dad lifts it verses my fiance, when he kisses me? I'm not close with my Dad and I've been living with my fiance for 5 years now. Which is the way to go, or does it really not matter? HELP!!!

Blusher, does Dad take lift or fiance?????

I have seen it done both ways. I think that as the bride, the decision is yours and you can do it whatever way you feel most comfortable. If you like, you can have your dad just lift it a little to kiss you and then place it back down for your fiance to lift at the end of the ceremony.

Best of luck to you, Stephanie Classic Favors and Invitations

What does everyone think? And which event would be better for you?

Blusher, does Dad take lift or fiance?????

Stephanie is right, it is surely your choice. However, I am seeing too many veils and hair styles that completely cover the right side of the bride's face when she is told to turn and face the groom. I think that not enough bridal shops insist that the veil gets tried on in conjunction with the hair style. The result is that no one on the left side of the church nor the photographer can see her face. Hint: not only try them together, but turn your head in both directions so that we ca see you.(A removable blusher usually helps.)

Blusher, does Dad take lift or fiance?????

Wow thanks Flash, that was a good tip I would never think that it is important for my veil or hair style not to obstruct the side profile. Usually when we try on our head piece or go for our trial hair-do we are just looking at it head on but I guess you are right that since most of the pictures and video is taped from the side that that is just as important.

Also: Blusher:Up or Down during ceremony?

Hey Brenda!

Along those same lines...do we keep the blusher on throughout the ceremony or do we pull it up for the ceremony? I have seen it both ways...Does it matter if you keep it on throughout the entire ceremony until the kiss?? I'm just curious... Is there something religious or preference?

Thanx,

Blusher, does Dad lift or fiance?????

Brenda, No one has responded to the heart of your question, which is the symbolism of the whole routine. Well guess what? You have Dad walking you down towards your fiance, but you are innocently covered; not to be seen by anyone never mind your betrothed. Then he lifts the veil and gives you AWAY to someone that he hopefully approves of! Actually, Jewish is even worse, where the more religious parents walk around and around and the groom has to make sure she's the right one (remember Bible stories?)(I can talk this way since I was born Jewish-we're all allowed to criticise our own) The whole thing is steeped in antiquated chauvinistic folklore (just personal opinion, folks. Don't jump on me!) The nicest ceremonies I've seen have been those that the bride and groom do what they want and design a ceremony that matches their personalities + who they are. Both parents can walk you down or you can walk down WITH your fiance! (Why not? Whenever I've seen it done that way it has just been so nice-filled with love) You can go with or without the veil. The symbolism is in all these little ceremonies, and you should be able to choose what you believe in. Especially if you have been living with your fiance and not your Dad! Good luck, Mark

Thanks Mark

Thanks for your explanation.

However, we decided to go with Gray Studios (they are a bit more pricy than Cassarino)

> I am strongly considering using Cassarinos
