Bridal Expo - Last Night

Hi Ladies: I was on here yesterday and found out about the Windwatch Hotel "Great Bridal Expo". I went last minute and I was sooo disappointed. This sort of goes back to a selling/drawing in thing, but I really feel this was a scam. There was a $9.00 walk in fee, which was fine by me. I walked in and they announce registration, and they tell you that you can pick up your coupons, which are sheets of paper with your name on it. Small tickets (about 10 per page). These are to drop into the bags, buckets (drawings and stuff for prizes). They actually never announced that you have to pay $6.00 for the sheets of tickets. Not only that, but there were only about 20 vendors there and you get 5 sheets of tickets that you purchased. Then you pay 9.00 registration. I was disappointed because there were NO photographers, invitation people, florists, etc. It was one or 2 bands, tupperware, phaltzcraft, Yacht Club, Zales, gifts, etc. Only 3 limo places and a few tuxedo vendors. It was so disappointing. Just an FYI. This was "The Great Bridal Expo", not the other one out there. I went to the Holiday Inn in Ronkonkoma several months ago. The vendors were great, many to choose from, no fee at the door, they served small finger foods and such. I felt a little taken advantage of. I wanted to visit with some florists and DJ's and Limos and I couldn't. I did a limo guy, but for 3 hours on a Friday afternoon from 11am - 1pm only, They wanted $600.00 for one CAR!

I too am looking for an indoor photography site. I am getting married in January so Old Westbury Gardens will let you take indoor pictures then?

Thansk for your help!

Bridal Expo - Last Night

I went to the Great Bridal Expo at the Windham Windwatch over the summer (around August). I also was kinda disappointed, but I was just starting to look. They displayed the limo company that I am interested in and I actually won a "discount" off of the dj that they displayed which turned out to be the house dj for my hall. So I managed to get a great deal out of it. I was terribly disappointed with the "fashion show". I thought all of the gowns were hideous. But there were a few interesting vendors. I'm actually looking for another show to go to.

Bridal Expo - Last Night

By the time I get married in March, I'll be engaged over three years. I've been to several "Great Bridal Expos" during that time. The first few I went to were great. They had over 100 vendors, many giveaways at the door, and unbelievable prizes. Within the last year or so, the shows have been lousy. I got free tickets to the next show (01/13/00 at the Marriott in Uniondale). I'm still in debate over whether or not I'll attend. I don't necessarily need anymore vendor information, I just like attending the show because it makes you feel good about being a bride. However, if it similiar to what you experienced, I'll stay home and do more productive things with my time like pick the lint out of my hair dryer. Seriously, there is one show that you all should not miss. I don't know when they are having it next, but Southwind Caterers in Lindenhurst puts on an unbelievable show. Out of this world!
