elective c/s is becoming more and more popular- as birth is treated as a medical condition and not as something our bodies are made to do. Denise Richards also did that so she would 'know that her baby was born during her husband's break from his show tapings'. it is a highly charged debate topic...but since women can chose to to have breast implants and other surgeries for 'beauty' it is hard to agrue against them chosing the method of their birth.

I also read that her mom had scared her so much about the pain of natural childbirth that she chose to have a CS. Odd reason, but having never been pregnant, I should probably just shut up...


However, I fear for that child. lots of therapy on the way....

Why would anyone choose to have a c/s. That worse then natural childbirth. They remove your insides, stomach, liver everything to get to the baby, then they put it back. If your luck, they put it back right. A c/s should be done only if your doctor so. I'm hoping that was the case for her.

I read that this isn't true. Her publicist is denying the rumors and saying that she didn't give birth yet.

According to U.K.'s Sky News, Spears was considering naming her and Federline's child London, after the British capital, where their romance blossomed. Us Weekly's sources had the singer set on Preston Michael Spears Federline. Spears' publicist had no official confirmation.

I've been the second assist on c/s and they do not remove your 'insides' to get to the baby. They make a longitudinal incision in the skin along the top of the panty line, separate the abdominal muscles (two snips and they pull away from each other) and then the uterus is right there. No removing of organs. Just make another incision into the uterus, rupture the amniotic sac, and pull the baby out.

The reason why they are most likely concerned about her having 3 c/s is beause with each c/s you have the higher the risks of complications in the next pregnancy (uterine rupture, placenta previa/accretas)

As far as naming her son after the city their love 'blossomed' seems pretty silly to me but to each his own right?!

I was a c/s baby and if my mom had to have her organs removed to get to me, SHE'S NEVER LET ME FORGET! It's bad enough I have to hear about the scar.

No they don't! That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! It's a fairly simple procedure where they take the baby through the abdomen instead of the vagina. They'd have to go through your back to make this plausible

Yes, they do. But they don't 'take your insides out' .

Ultimately, I don't think it's for any of us to judge someone's choice to give birth vaginally or by caesarean. It's none of anyone else's business and I think to call someone names for making a choice that obviously was best for them, even if it may not be best for everyone, is childish.

Yes it is more than a simple 2 cut surgery. Yes it is a major operation - I apologize if I made it seem like less than what it actually is. But to state that your 'insides are taken out' is completley incorrect. There are some attendings that will visualize the uterus in order to check on its condition and also suture the uterus while it it is gently lifted out of the body, but there are others that will suture the uterine incision while it is still within the body. I would say in 50 c/s, 48 of them were performed the latter way. I was merely addressing the claim that one's stomach and liver were removed - they are not.
