To clarify with Patken, The negative number is stamped on the bottom, not across the pic. You can easily remove it. Doug also told me I could have my pics on a disk:-It would be set to music and at a very low 'copy' quality. Meaning the pic would be pixelated if tried to copy or printed.
Be careful who you bring the pic to, they print them out on 'Professional Copywrited Paper', drugstores and photo places will not copy pics that are professional unless you have permission of the photographer. You have to understand, pics are their livelyhood.. Even though they can be overpriced, they wouldn't be making any money if Everyone can go to their local CVS and make reprints of everything.

Just something to think about..

Thanks - I did see that on the proofs. I think that for me, it's more important to get that CD and all the proofs as soon as possible. Do you know when Patken would get you those pics on the DVD picture show? Was it a long time?

I had my proofs within 2 weeks, actually a week and 1/2 in a book. I didn't do the CD thing because it was way too much money for me I already spent the amount of a small economy car at patken.
PS: You can scan the proofs at home and make all sorts of pics, different sizes with a high quality scanner and printer. NOt that I did that and made a whole bunch of Christmas presents for my family;)

After all is said and done, all that matters to me is the Pictures.

We went with 12th Night...I love that you don't have to decide on a 'package.' We're not worried that it'll end up costing more bc its up to us what we want to spend...plus if we're not ready to put an album together right away...we can wait...we'll still have the DVD's to show people and we can always get our favorite pictures developed in the meantime.

we used 12th night and you wuold be amazed how cheap it is to make up prints - 5x7 using a porfessional photo place were $1.29, i think 8x10s were a little less than $2.00....we were psyched!

Re: Calling Photog-Obsessed Brides - Esp. Patken Brides AND other brides who are doing the '12th Night' Thing...

I got all of my digital proofs on a disc from 12th Night along with a DVD that had our proofs set to music. We got 'hard' proofs for our B & W pictures and the negatives as well. We have a total of 1500 pictires.

I ordered about 500 prints from snapfish for about $150 and I made book from them as well for $20.00 It can get more expensive when ordering the album, but it depends on the type of album. If you are only interested in reprients I think the cheaper way to go is 12th Night....

Good Luck!

The proofs from Patken have there name in small print on the bottom of the picture in the white section, you can just cut it right off.

Re: Calling Photog-Obsessed Brides - Esp. Patken Brides AND other brides who are doing the '12th Night' Thing...

I am also using Patken and had similar questions. I e-mailed Doug and here was the gist of his response to me. I hope it helps!!

Putting a stamp on our photos is not something we do. What we do have on the lower part of our proofs is the photo id. This
is done for the convenience of our brides. Because all proofs come in an album,
we do not want brides to go to the trouble of having to pull the photos out of the Album to identify them. The size of this on the photo is 1/50 of the 5x5 image size. In other words 1/12 of an inch. It is extremely small and does
not appear on the image.

As far as Patken giving the negatives and CD's of images taken. They are
all included at NO Charge. The CD images are High Rez Files. The same we print off. The only time there is a charge is if there is a dvd montage set to music.

Re: Calling Photog-Obsessed Brides - Esp. Patken Brides AND other brides who are doing the '12th Night' Thing...

My photographer, Patken, was my favorite vendor of the day. Doug out did himself and produced such beautiful pictures. Just remember quality not quanity. I would rather have 350 awesome perfect pics than a 1000 pics with 320 good shots. Let's face we're not photo professionals, how in the world would we pick fom that many!

I would recommend Patken forever! They have been soo good to me, especially since I am an out of state bride. They are timely, got my proofs within 2 weeks, my video will be ready the end of this week(includes honeymoon, baby pics and together, the deluxe kind) and my SOHO album is ready for proofing. I know brides who are still waiting for their video and have been married almost a year already!

Just an FYI, but I am biased cause I already had my wedding, used Patken, and will use them for every life event.

being a photographer myself I am glad that it worked out for you..but did they color adjust or just print ..for example..the reds in digital are not as vivid as film so a lab will have to adjust. Most people wont tell but people who know about photography will see the difference but heck I doubt guests and parents probably will notice the difference but thats just my pet peeve lol

Ok - Questions for Patken Brides: Do the proofs you get - are they stamped? I was looking at someone's here, and they had his stamp on them.

Also, on my visit, Doug said that he would give me my negatives --- but if I went digital, do I get a CD? That is really important to me but I wasn't sure.

When I went in there, I had a little difficulty with one gal. But then Doug came in and really blew me away with his love for the work and explained why he does things the way he does.

Not totally convinced but he did give me a good price for all that was offered.
But since I don't know whether I actually want a professional album, it's hard to cough up all that money now.

For the 12th Night or 'non-package' gals, are you concerned that it is going to end up costing you more later if you decide to do an album and to get reprints done? I'd love to get just a few reprints (one big one, two for my parents) and then all my proofs and the CD and then go from there.

But when I got my price from Patken, I was wondering if not having a package will end up being costlier. Basically - the price I got was about 700 more than the 'basic 12th night-type' of package. But if I end up doing a book later on - will it cost me the same or more? TIA!

I am using 12th night and I would not do it any other way.
My opinion, First of all Dom and his crew are available f you need anything they are there to answer your questions...You can use so many online photo labs, and you can get any pictures for 'cost' without the markup. 12th night gives you digital proofs. I got my engagement shoot done by them and it was awesome. I uploaded them to an 'online photo lab' and printed a hard-bound album. They came out great. I also blew some pictures up to 10x12 and made my own save the dates too. If you are computer savvy, then I think doing it yourself is definately cheaper. Most photographers offer these rediculously large photos (18x20) Just remember....the custom frame costs a lot too!!!
