Re: Catholic Girls..What Are You Giving Up For Lent?

I thought the new trend was to take something on, like volunteering or something that will benefit others instead of giving up something like chocolate, etc...

I want to try and do something extra, I need to figure out what though...I think FI and I might try and volunteer a little more at a shelter

MAMMA NEEDS SOME THIN MINTS

That's what I wanna know!!!! How'd I miss the thin mint parade???

Well...I normally give up junk food, or alcohol, or something just bad for me. But because of my diet, I have given up soo much, that when I have the urge, I am going to need those outlets to treat myslef otherwise you'll find me in a corner gouging a box of twinkies!!!

So...since there is no food to give up. I have signed up to volunteer twice a week at the soup kitchen. I start this sunday. I am very excited about it and already went to my,well I guess I can call it orientation, basically they showed me around and I got to meet the director. I feel like giving my time to those in need is a good thing for lent, and I've never done it before. I'm very excited and already feel good about it.

That's a very nice idea.

Re: Catholic Girls..What Are You Giving Up For Lent?

well usually I try to give up food, but since I am on weight watchers I think I have sacrificed enough in the food department so I decided to give up cursing, IDK how long it will last but we'll see.....

not giving anything up, more along the lines of taking something on - i'm making a promise to go to church every sunday of Lent and hopefully I'll get into the habit and continue after Easter is over

same as me. I do not go to church the way i used to. i already told FI we're going BACK to church.. 11:30am masses on Sunday.. no ifs, and, or butts
