Re: DAVID'S BRIDAL!!!!!!! sorry...long rant....

Sooooo sorry Jen. That is exactly why I didn't go there for my alterations. I went to a private seamstress in Wantagh that did a phenominal job.

I had no problems with them (i went to westbury) but I also only ordered the dress there, and as soon as it came in, I picked it up. They never asked about alterations, etc. (I ordered it last june and it came in in 2 weeks so that could be why ...

Glad you have got it under control.

if you're just going to look at dresses (you didn't order one yet) then you have nothing to worry about. Honestly, I think DB is a very nice place to shop for your wedding gown. In all my experiences there they were VERY friendly and helpful. They made me feel like the only bride in the store, because of the way they assigned one person to cater to me during my entire visit. They have beautiful dresses and good prices. So don't rethink visiting them. They are, however, horrible with ALTERATIONS, which is probably all the bad things you've been hearing about them. So definitely get your dress there if you find something you love, just find your own seamstress. That's MY opinion, at least.

I totally agree!!! I had no problems shopping there and purchasing my dress from them. When it comes to alterations, that is a totally different story!!! Definitely find your own seamstress!!! Good luck!

Re: DAVID'S BRIDAL!!!!!!! sorry...long rant....

HI 09 Bride here........I just picked up my dress last week.
I asked this question about DB alterations, and had some yes an no's. But after reading about you girls I'M FREAKING OUT!!!!!
So my BM haven't bought there dresses yet, we'll probably do that next month.
So I should go do the alterations some where else right???
What about the Bustle they will know how make a French one or one that will look right for that dress......

So I should just have everyone go outside to their one seamstress????

I have a headache

Honestly, I would have EVERYONE, including you, go elsewhere for alterations. I can recommend a great seamstress in Centereach, and I know the other girls on here can recommend ones in other areas. It's just not worth the stress and aggravation to have it done at DB.
