Designing Centerpieces That Don’t Obstruct Conversations

I continue to hear that the centerpieces are to be tall enough to see under or short enough to see over, when planning the layouts of reception table. The issue is that I like mid-height solutions, yet I am afraid that they may block the views of the guests. What do the planners do with this middle ground without making clumsy partitions? Others mix greenery, smaller vases and other minor accents that attract your eyes not up but rather down. I have observed some designers include such details as led lights used to decorate the wedding in a very subtle manner to focus on the low elements. Do these touches allow the balancing of the centerpiece height, or do they over-focalize it?
