did you negotiate the price of your band (music)?
I was just wondering if anyone here negotiated the price of their band down... I was talking to someone (who shall remain nameless) who got her wedding band to come down in price.Has anyone else had a similar experience? Some of the bands I love are a touch out of my price range. Is it worth asking if they'll come down in price a little?
ETA - MUSIC band to the title.

I believe FH and I negotiated with all our vendors..Especially if your really interested tell them they are a tad bit out of budget and see what they can do for you worth a shot..

You can definitely bargain down the band. And any vendor for that matter, particularly if you are dealing in cash.

3 of the bands that I love would not budge in price,The difference between them and some other bands were like $500 to $800. For that kind of money it is not worth losing the band you love.

The band was the only vendor we couldn't get to budge in price. It was basically this is our price for the night, take it or leave it. We loved them so we went with it.

My band came down a little bit in price, but I think it was because they accidentally gave me the wrong dates that they were free at first and felt bad about the mistake.

Well We kinda bargined. We have the extra VH. So they told us one price for over time and we didn't want to pay that much so we bargined with them. I think if you really want them, try it.

The difference between the band I like and the dream band I love is over $3,000.
I don't expect the dream band to come down $3k in price, obviously... but a little would be nice! Guess it can't hurt to just ask. If not, then it'll be a tough choice.

That's why the price is such a large difference, One is a band you like and one is a dream band. However $3,000 is a major difference in price. You have to go with your budget.

Thanks. I feel like everyone thinks I'm crazy for not wanting to blow the budget totally.
A band is important to me, so I'm willing to spend a fair amount (definitely a bit more than the band I like)... but not willing to go broke for it! I knew the band was going to be the hardest decision I have to make in planning, too. It's killing me!

totally negotiated with everyone! They expect it actually. Wedding prices are sooooo hyped up, you practically HAVE TO negotiate. Good Luck!

Re: did you negotiate the price of your band (music)?
You can def negotiate with your band. It'll be easier if you don't go through an agency. If you can make a deal with the bandleader, they don't have to pay the agent 15%. If you saw them at a showcase though, that's option is out. Also, you are booking your band 9 month before (which is of course what you should do) but they will charge you the max now. If you want to chance it & wait, you can get them for cheaper 2-3 months before b/c they'll just want to fill the date. But that's a dangerous game.

Re: did you negotiate the price of your band (music)?
My band worked with me on the price. I think it might be because it's only one band and not a big company, but whatever was, they were very willing to work within our budget
