We were on our way up to Binghamton to visit friends, and had stopped at a rest stop so I could go to the bathroom. Adam called my parents while I was in the bathroom.

The funniest part was when I came out of the bathroom, I cut the line at the burger king in the reststop to be with Adam. I informed the truckers behind him that I was with him, and they started joking about it (they had heard Adam on the phone with my parents). I couldn't understand what was so funny!

Yes he did, He went over their house while I wasn't home and sat them down and told them he loved me very much and was planning on asking me to marry him, and my mom and dad were so happy.. Becuase they love him SO MUCH... I thought it was extremely sweet

Yes he did and that touched me so much. He knew certain traditions meant alot to me and that was one of them.

FH came to my house and had dinner with my parents one evening when I was working late. He showed them the ring and asked for their blessing. Then my parents had to keep it a secret for two days. They were so glad when they knew we could all talk freely

nope he chickened out! At first I was a little disappointed.
But my parents were so surprised and excited when we told them that I was okay with it!!

Yes, he asked my Dad's permission and I had no idea he was going to propose.

Absolutely! Believe it or not it was one of the first things I told him about myself when we started dating...how I was somewhat traditional and want doors opened for me and my FH to 'ask' my Dad's permission to marry me. He went to talk to my Dad about two weeks before he popped the question and my Dad never let on to it! I love them both!!

Yep. My FH went to my dad's work during the day to show him the ring and ask for his blessing.

YES!! He was nervous as well and jokingly asked my mom for help!! I don't know why he was so nervous-FH & my parents are extremely close!! LOL But it was so cute-he had gotten the ring (i had no clue) and showed my mom, but my dad didn't want to see it until he gave it to me! How cute is that??? So he saw it for the first time when he proposed!

Yes he did. It was so cute. The morning of my brother's wedding he and my dad were out running errands while my mom and I were getting beautiful. The made a trip to the beer distributor, who knows my family. The guy said to my dad 'I hear your son's getting married today' and then he said 'there are 3 rings that come with marriage--an engagement ring, a wedding ring and suffering' When my dad and FH got back into the car FH said Speaking of rings...I bought one for Farah yesterday and with your permission I'd like to give it to her tonight.

So sweet! But then when it came time for family pictures my dad said my FH had to be in them...Of course I didn't know, so I was like No he doesn't!!

He didn't *ask permission* (neither of us are traditional and I've been living on my own for 11 years)...but he did go to my dad & stepmoms house and told them that he had planned on asking me to marry him (my dad IS very traditional in many ways so this was something that my FH wanted to do out of respect, I suppose). My ring wasn't ready at the time...my stepmom was so upset that she didn't get to see it! LOL

No, he didn't. We'd been living together for 3 years and everyone knew it was coming sooner or later but FH felt that we are too old to be asking permission since it is only my permission that he was really seeking anyway We did invite the family over for dinner afterwards to make the announcement. He started his speech by saying ' dinner isn't the only reason we invited you all over today. We have some good news. I've asked Anjie to marry me and she accepted'. Everyone was overjoyed and no one was upset that he didn't aske permission first.

Yes, FH approached both my parents a week before he proposed. I knew my mother was acting strange that week inbetween. She had a smile plastered on her face and looked like she was busting to tell me something. When it finally happened and I called her she let out the biggest sign of relief for not having to keep the secret anymore...lol

He did asl/tell my dad he was going to propose while we were on vacation. I kept telling FI I didn't want him to - I'm over 35 and have lived on my own since I was 18 and felt it was completely unnecessary. But I know it meant a lot to my father so I'm glad he did.

Yes, mine did. He did it while we were at my parent's house for dinner. I got up to go to the bathroom and when I came back in the room everyone got quiet and it was a little awkward for them (I had NO CLUE what was going on)... So my mom asked me to help her clear the dishes and then she told me in the kitchen what FH was up to! I thought it was so sweet and romantic
