disposable cameras...opinions???

What is your opinion about disposable cameras on the tables at the reception???

I know some people find them tacky and photographers hate them, but are they really worth it? I figured at about $6 per camera, another $6 to develope, and 15 tables, that's $540 for a few "good" snapshots that might come out.

disposable cameras...opinions???

We put cameras only our friends' tables. This way we didn't get tons of shots of our parents friends, etc. that we may not really know. Anyway, we got several good shots, some really silly ones that I enjoyed, and a lot that didn't come out great but were OK. It's nice to see these types of pictures because the photographer can't be everywhere.

disposable cameras...opinions???

Hi. I have mixed thoughts about this. I think it is a great idea if everyone would actually use all of the exposures on the camera. I have been to weddings where we never even touched the camera (I was stuck at a very boring table). It winds up to be very expensive. I havent decided what I am going to do. If you figure an extra say $600 for the cameras/developing some photographers can throw in a photojournalist photographer (I was quoted $695 for one) than you will have a professional taking the pictures. Maybe only have a few cameras and put a note on them to take some pictures and pass them to the next table. This will get people to talk to each other and cut back on the cost. Let me know what you think!!

Hi, I am going to go to a Costco or Price Club and but the packs of Kodak cameras. Last time, they were 3 in a pack for $20 with a $10 rebate. can't beat that!

I am also going to give certain guests (only those who are known to take great photos) the cameras. I am going to assign them beforehand. This way you avoid any kids or "challenged" photographers wasting the shots.

You know, you also have to be careful depending on how much your group parties! Once the people start partying you can end up with a roll of someone's backside.

Better than disposable cameras are REAL 35MM! The photos are usually crisper and you can't beat the telescopic lens!

Consider buying a few rolls of film for your friends/family who are going to bring their cameras anyway......When you return from your honeymoon, take the film to those "free 2nd set of prints" places. That way you'll each have a full set.

And with today's new technology, a CD with your pix is only a few dollars more - and you can email your friends with the photos! : )

I would do it again in a heartbeat--we got some great shots! I sent out doubles of the ones that came out cute. I had one camera on each table and my guests did a good job of snapping away. The extras we used to take(some) pics of Hawaii and of our new place. The quality was really good...

If you don't know which invitation you want, most printers will let you borrow the BIG BOOKS for a day or so if you give them a deposit. Like everything else you'll be ordering, shop around. I went to two different printers to price my invitations, and the prices for the same invitations were different (one was $25 more for the same quantity).

Glory, Personally, I encourage them. Even though we have two "photojournalistic" photographers and average 1000 pictures, there is always the possibility of missing something. Any pictures from guests are welcome in our albums, just in case. Karen had a great idea to give rolls of film to guests bringing "real" cameras! Excellant! The main idea would be to keep the negs just in case you want to use them. It's true that many of the pictures from the disposables are not worthwhile, but some might be. You need to weigh the variables.

depends

I have seen all the pics that were developed from disp cameras from my fsil wedding. most were shots that the photog was taking- cutting the cake- their grand entrance, etc. and a good % of the otehrs were too dark. Up to you...maybe if only the "talented ones" recieved the cameras they weill be worthwhile..but you are paying enuf for the pro photog...why buy 20 cameras and then pay to develpo all of them...and wind up with a handful of pics? Esp when people bring their OWN cameras?

I like the idea of giving those guys a roll of 35mm film!!

disposable cameras...opinions???

A friend of mine had them at her wedding and my fiance wound up taking the only picture with her dancing with her Grandfather. We think it's worth it!

I sent it yesterday. I linked to your address above. Is there a different email address for you?

Does anyone know where I can order a specific style CACHET (brand) dresses from?

Just remember that the clicking/winding sound will drive you nuts when you watch your video. Of the friends' videos that I've seen, there always seems to be someone winding a disposable during an important part of the day, and there's nothing you can do about it to take that off, unless you want to lose all the sound. the church, the cake cutting, the first dance...tiktiktiktiktiktiktiktiktiktiktik!

Just thought I'd let you know.

We had disposable cameras at our wedding and they were well worth the cost. I found them at The ultimate Online Wedding Mall for $5.95 and they don't charge for shipping. Also they have automatic flashes so every picture comes out! We had over 400 candid shots and we love them just as much as our professional pictures. For developing we went to the Price Club and paid only $2.69 for each roll for single prints. The total cost came to about $160 for everything. A worthy investment for us!

The food at Nick's is very good!

There is an entrance to the beach just outside the restaurant. We are having our ceremony there.

That's a great deal! Was the quality good? I'm always leery about ordering non-brand stuff online....please let me know. Thanks! : )

The handicap bathroom is upstairs....the men's and women's baths, coat check & bridal suite are downstairs. You'll see the difference right away....

I'll let you know how I make out.....

I hear you! I also am very cautious when ordering online but I must say this place was great! The cameras were really nice you get a choice of colors (mine were white and silver) They were delivered in good condition and each one had a little table card to tell your guests to use the cameras. At my wedding one table didn't read the card and thought the camera belonged to someone else!!!!! here is the wesite address... http://store.yahoo.com/ultimatewedding/discam.html I also bought wedding rice from them. My guests loved it! It was in the shape of hearts! If you need additional info email me.

Good Luck!

I never expected it to be ready so soon! Even though the dress was a little big it didnt need too much alterations (it still cost me 75$)

We had disposable cameras and you can't hear any of the clicking and wionding on our video.

I had 20 tables with 10 people at each and we had plenty of room!! I can't imagine however, 500 people there. I think 250 will be fine and you will have enough room. Just a reminder to Cottage brides. The cocktail hour is considered a "standing room" cocktail hour. Which means many people stand- I wasn't crazy about it but it worked out fine.......

By the way it's nice to hear that you did care, if you were going to spend at least $1000 on something you did'nt care about that would be pretty foolish.

disposable cameras...opinions???

I was going to purchase cameras for the wedding and then at my shower someone put three boxes of them in the wishing well. 15 cameras - a very nice wishing well gift, so wait you never know! As far as the cost of developing, you can do that when you have the money.. you don't have to do it right away. Plus, any pictures not used.. take on your honeymoon!

What is everyone's opinion about sending out "save the date" cards? Has anyone done this; when is an appropriate time to do so? Any info would be helpful. Thank you and good luck to everyone!

Today we pause to reflect upon those who have shaped our character, molded our spirits and touched our hearts. May the lighting of this candle be a reminder of the memories we have shared, a representation of the everlasting impact you have made upon our lives.

Wishing well gifts...

....are little things your guests think you might need. If a wishing well is planned, the person(s) hosting the shower will write "wishing well" on the invitation.

Its a creative license for the shower guests - I'd imagine it could be something from your registry but its usually inexpensive things like small kitchen tools (ie jar openers), sponges, wine stoppers, soap, etc....

Just wanted to know if anyone knows when the next 25% off sale at Michael's craft store is...

register for disposable cameras???

I don't think it's tacky. People register for all sorts of things. And if that's what you want, go for it!

Ive also seen ads in Bridal magazines for a store called Sophisticated Lady that saiys that not-typical MOB dresses are their specialty, but have never actually been there and dont know location. You can probably find them in the phone book.

Estelles is another suggestion, although they are hit-and miss.
