Re: DIY Wedding Day Makeup? BAD IDEA????

mines a sunday morning too...i havent had any problems with makeup artists coming to me to do it.

I have heard people who do there own makeup end up wishing they got it done with pictures and such...i think makeup and hair are 2 things that are totally worth the money...youll have pics of it forever!

Many LI vendors will prob travel.... I think you should get it done professionally, just so you're not stressed the day of doing it yourself. Mine was more than I wanted to spend also, but I cut out some other things to make it happen... I used Carmella from Happily Ever After who is a vendor on here, she does both hair and makeup and I def. didn't spend $500! Maybe $250 tops!

Did this include the trial? Thats whats really bgging me. The trials are SOOO expensive! Almost as much as the day itself and my hair is really short so I don't like the idea of being charged the same amount as a bride who has hair down to her hoo hah.

my trial was $50....contact Carmela, she's as sweet as can be and maybe can work something out!

Re: DIY Wedding Day Makeup? BAD IDEA????

I checked Carmela out. Its the travel thats the killer because I am in NJ- anyway they cut it, its waaaaay more than I can afford to spend and its not a matter of what I want. its a matter of what I can afford.

-shrugs- I know a lot of people are saying 'spend the money its worth it' but honestly....thats pretty easy to say if you have money or can get it... I have NADA becayuse I am a student and had to quit my job last year to finish my teaching certification program. The FH is paying for most of our expenses which is hard on him so I cannot ask him and frankly will not, put a frivouous expense on him. My mom is already paying for ym dress and veil, so to ask to spend more for makeup...

I think one of the major issues here is we are a hispanic family-lower middle class and so we don't 'get our nails and hair done' very often. We do our own makeup and hair for most occasions. Alot of what i have learned about on this site, NO Woman in my family knew about.....

I guess I was just looking for support on the doing my own makeup thing, because its really all I can afford and I needed reassurance it might not be makeupartist perfect, but it would be fine.

Re: DIY Wedding Day Makeup? BAD IDEA????

I was very much settled on doing my make-up myself. I even practiced. But the day of, my hair stylest did it for me. If I was you, I would just play around with make-up. What I did was take out pictures that I liked and did them. It was actually fun!

I am going to try-going to start haunting sephora because I have gone through my budget every way I can and just can't justify all that cost...maybe my hairstylist will take pity one me that day and help me with my makeup. LOL LOOOOOONGSHOT but we will see how that goes.

You could check your local craigslist ads for makeup artists in your area.

yeah i think it can look great in person but in pictures it really needs to be heavy and think more defined...although you can always get pictures retouched ;)

Re: DIY Wedding Day Makeup? BAD IDEA????

you can purchase professional quality makeup and practice on yourself. take a pic in natural and artifical light each time you practice. you can definitely do this yourself! Just purchase a good primer and foundation. The rest can be drugstore brands.
