Re: DJ Question-Vinny High Voltage Sounds

Thank you everyone! You have put my mind at ease, I am going to email or call him and ask him about it, as someone said there are two sides to the story. I don't want to discount all the great things I have heard about him. Thanks for all your input. This is why I love this site!!

Re: DJ Question-Vinny High Voltage Sounds

Definitely call or email him because their are 2 sides to every story! I saw Vinny the other day and I did not even know about the bad review because I have not been on LIW as much lately (so busy at work the past month) and he brought it up to me. He explained his side of the story and it really will put your mind at ease! He did not show up late to the wedding. For some reason the maitre d's thought that he was going to be there at 6pm (the reception was at 8pm), and he showed up at 7:40 (20 minutes before the party). They told the bride that he was an hour and 40 minutes late, so that was what she believed (which was not her fault, that was what she was told), however he wasn't late. He was set up and ready to go by 8pm (when he was scheduled to start the music). It was not like the reception was going on for an hour and 40 minutes and their was no music. Vinny was set up and on time. My wedding starts at 6pm, reception is at 7pm, and I could care less if he gets there at 6:55pm, as long as he is set up and ready to go by 7pm, I will be happy!

I hope that you all trust that Vinny will do an AMAZING job at your wedding, and that your day will be beautiful! He has such an excellent reputation, and FH & I are 100% positive that he will do a great job!

I am booked with him and have no concerns. Look at it this way. You will never find a vendor that gets 100% positive reviews since everyone is different. What you should look for is that there is more good reviews than bad. Also feel free to address the bad with him and hear his side.

i agree....

was this the review where he arrived super late and demanded a tip w/o apologizing for being late?

Yes this is the post in question!

I suggest hearing both sides to the story.

I have a question for all of you-

If a vendor(in this casea DJ) was all that bad as stated in your review- why would you still give him a 'good tip'

Somethings are worth hearing both sides- IMO.

Re: DJ Question-Vinny High Voltage Sounds

I booked Vinny a couple of weeks ago based on great reviews here and his wonderful personality.

But I have to admit I'm a little concerned... another bride here sent me forum mail that she had him booked for her wedding on the same day as mine on the other side of the island.

When FH called to ask him about it, Vinny told him the other gig starts at 11. Since then, the other bride and I have traded emails and turns out her reception ends at 5- mine starts at 5!

I suppose with assistants it might be possible, but I'm wondering exactly how this is going to work, especially when you consider tear-down and set-up time at each venue.

Will have to investigate further but I do really like Vinny a lot and am confidant he'll get the job done.

Lauren

Vinny has two sets of equipment. If you ch starts at 5, he can have someone there setting up and will be able to get to your reception at 6. I really do not see it as an issue. He has done more than one wedding a day.

Here's a tip for all later 06 and 07 brides, once you are booked with a vendor, stop looking and dont stress and compare with what you see on the boards. When an issue comes up that puts you on the edge, call them and address it. I have done this plenty of times and have not been attacked by the vendor because I picked great people.

I would be careful in posting his side of the story as fact. We weren't there and only the bride in question and the DJ themselves can be certain what happened. I realize we are trying to put eachother's minds at ease, however IMO we should refrain from posting as facts things that we didn't observe directly. If anything, I would preface comments with 'according to the DJ.......'

Re: DJ Question-Vinny High Voltage Sounds

There are always two sides to every story and somewhere in between is the truth. If you feel comfortable with the DJ you should book him. Should you go by one wrong incident? Do you think every DJ on this board has a perfect track record? Let me rephrase that, do you think every vendor on here has a perfect track record? I'm sure they don't.

Re: DJ Question-Vinny High Voltage Sounds

there are two sides to every story, I booked vinny and so far he's been great, everytime I have a question or concern he gets back to me ASAP, FH and I feel as if hes a member of the family. If you have concerns bring it to him so he'll know and maybe he could put your mind at ease.

I am also using Vinny, and I discussed all of that particular bride's concerns with him, AND I sent the bride in question a FM with a list of additional questions before I spoke to Vinny himself. After all, why just talk to him without more specific details about her complaints/concerns??

As we all know there are two sides to the story. Suffice it to say, that after getting my questions answered by the bride herself and Vinny, I am 100% confident with my original choice of DJ's and have no intention of changing to someone else.

ETA: If you are concerned, I recommend calling him yourself. Ask him whatever you want. I'm sure he will answer you.
