we used a fork...but after i fed him his piece i took some icing with my fingers and dabbed it on his face. made for a funny pic

i went to a wedding last fri night and the groom SMASHED the cake in the bride's face. it was in her hair, eyebrow, eyelashes. FH and i talked about that - i would kill him right there and then. he will be using a fork to feed me... i'm making him go 1st i might kick it up a notch, but just to dab a lil icing on his nose. no harm - he's not spending 100 bux on makeup that day!

Now FH has already warned me that he cannot wait to see me wearing wedding cake. I understand his desire..However, we will use forks, and I have warned him that I can fix my lipstick, but it better not be anywhere above my eyes on my dress or in my hair.

So we will use Forks...I want him to go first...and I will hold the plate with the cake on it!!!

Cake should be eaten not worn!!

It would be a waste of a perfectly good piece of cake.

I would also tell him that he will get nothing on the wedding night if he does this.

definitely using a fork - FH knows that if he gets so much as a crumb on my dress he is in big trouble that night

ETA: I just wanted to say I think smashing cake in each others face is disrespectful, not cute. I mean putting a little frosting on the nose and licking it off is cute, but getting a whole slice of cake in your face is a bit much.

Lately, I have seen a lot of couples use forks. I think it looks more elegant too.

We used a fork, esp with chocolate cake!! I couldn't imagine us using our hands, we didn't want to act like crazy animals!!

When we first got engaged, one of the first things DH promised me was that he wouldn't smush the cake in my face!! He understood the cost of everything and how upset I would be. Plus I've just never found it to be funny.

And we both promised no smashing cake in each others faces! There will be too many hours and a lot of money spent to look nice.
