Did you try this site: http://www.weddingsitesandservices.com/index.cfm

I don't know what things you would like in a Hall, but maybe you can find something that you like here - price, location, food, etc.

Good Luck.

I have only one issue w/ my hall...I wish it had a bigger dance floor. I'm sure it will be fine, but it's just me.

Re: Do you love everything about your hall when you first booked and would you book a hall if it lacked a few things you wanted?

I don't remember how many we looked at, but at least ten. There were things we didn't like about every single one of them. Some were big, and they got ruled out right away.

We chose Milleridge in the end. The main thing I do not like there is the bathrooms--really old fashioned and not very nice. We also have to share it, so I'm not even bothering with a guest basket. Of all things though, we decided that was a small thing to us. It depends what matters most to FH and you though. For us, we didn't want your typical catering hall. We didn't want a lot of glitz (just not our style). We wanted decent food that would appeal to most guests. And most of all, we wanted daylight. I'm not crazy about no windows, so that was very important to us.

We must have seen 20 halls. I took us months. We ended up between two places and put the pros and cons down a sheet. EMJC had the least amt of cons...

There's always going ot be something not perfect. I think you get 90% of what you want if you are on a budget. We were.

I fell in love and booked on the spot. It just 'felt' right. I agree with Soon2BMsZ - there are SO many halls on LI, I wouldn't settle.

Re: Do you love everything about your hall when you first booked and would you book a hall if it lacked a few things you wanted?

I booked at the EL Caribe, that was the only hall we looked at , it was the FH choice but i was sold on the customer service and the menu. The rooms are gorgeous although they are close but hey at least its not the same room. I am not too crazy about the outside their is no scenery for pics but I will most likely work something else out for pics. El Caribe came highly recommended and the location was perfect for me my ceremony is at St Jude. I also took into consideration myguests most of my family and friends are in Brooklyn.
Keep looking though you will know the perfect one when you see it.

FF was the first hall I went to check out and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I loved everything down to the bathrooms! But, I went to check out about 20 other places just to make sure and b/c it was fun But after each one I just kept thinking about FF

Re: Do you love everything about your hall when you first booked and would you book a hall if it lacked a few things you wanted?

We only looked at 3. JT was the 2nd one we looked at and we loved it as soon as we walked in. I wanted to book on the spot but FH felt we should go to 1 more just to make sure we were 100% positive before leaving a deposit. I love everything about the hall and the location is perfect for our families.

I would have to say that the only thing I don't love is that it's next door to a 7-11. You can see it driving up but when you are inside, you feel totally isolated b/c of the surrounding walls. I get so excited everytime I go in to make a payment!!!

Re: Do you love everything about your hall when you first booked and would you book a hall if it lacked a few things you wanted?

I looked at several halls in person, but 10s of others online. I fell in love with Atlantica online, but wasn't initially impressed when I saw it 'live and in person'. But, after visiting several other halls and then going back to it, I loved it all over again.

I went to 6 halls and called about a dozen more before I found my hall. As soon as I walked in I got that Im getting married here feeling. I brought FH back with me the next day, he loved it too, and we booked it. It was perfect for us, exactly what we were looking for.

Re: Do you love everything about your hall when you first booked and would you book a hall if it lacked a few things you wanted?

We made a big mistake when looking, we went to Oheka first..that made it very hard, there really is nothing like it, so for the next 10 months, we looked at atleast 25 other halls, and none of them were doing it for us, we didnt get the same, 'this is where im getting married' feeling. We were ready to suck up the cost, and book there, and then we went to Atlantica..and just knew that was it. From the moment we walked in, we started mapping out the room, 'mom can sit here, and the dj can go over there, and the guest book can be here' and we were sold. That night back at home we had to debate if we were going to go with Oheka, or Atlantica, Oheka is gorgeous, and a dream place, but personally, its all about the pictures there, and the actual rooms just werent doing it for me.

The right hall is out there! Dont get discouraged, you will find it

I looked at about 35 + places with my FI and it was crazy FINALLy I pick 3 top places, Chateau briand, Leonards in Great neck, Sandcastle. But, I picked Chateau b/c I get the whole restaurant as my cocktail hour, they are throwing in chair covers. Etc....

Re: Do you love everything about your hall when you first booked and would you book a hall if it lacked a few things you wanted?

My wonderful parents looked at 5 halls and got to 'critique' them all. We had specific criteria since 65%+ of our guests are from out of town we wanted a hotel, close enough to airports, and a fun party for after the wedding. I had never heard of the HH until my Mom heard from another nurse that she works with. She went to check it out and absolutely loved it. The minute we walked in, I fell IN LOVE. It had everything, everything we wanted all in one place. It was perfect!

I booked my hall the week after I saw it. It's in the process of being rennovated. The cocktail room is almost done and it's so beautiful.

There were a few things that irked me, but the overall look of the hall was what I wanted. It was my third hall that I saw, I went to two more, then went back and booked it.

Re: Do you love everything about your hall when you first booked and would you book a hall if it lacked a few things you wanted?

I really liked the hall, but it wasn't 'perfect': the lobby is a little 80's ish, and there is no outdoor space. But for the price, and with the really nice people there and good food, it was the best hall for us.

Re: Do you love everything about your hall when you first booked and would you book a hall if it lacked a few things you wanted?

We booked on the spot. As soon as we walked in the front door we just knew it was exactly what we were looking for. We had been to 1 hall prior, and it just didn't feel right. There were too many things about it that I didn't love.

The one thing I don't like about our hall is that they have multiple weddings at a time.

We looked at about 8 places, our reception hall was the second (Carlyle) I knew before we even went there I'd love it and the second we walked in, I knew I wanted my wedding there. We looked at the other places just to be sure.

Re: Do you love everything about your hall when you first booked and would you book a hall if it lacked a few things you wanted?

The Crescent was the last place we looked at. I looked at a couple of places, but didn't really like anything. Since I live in CT and had just started a new job, my parents looked at other places and then narrowed it down to places they thought I might like. We really liked the Milleridge Cottage and wanted to book it. However, after my parents saw the Crescent, they loved it and really wanted us to see it. We weren't crazy about it at first b/c we liked a more traditional hall, but after a lot of pushing from my parents that day it started to grow on me. I couldn't be happier that we chose the Crescent. The more I visited it and dealt with the people there, the more confident I was with my choice. I really loved the place and they threw a fabulous affair.

ETA: I'm so glad we had great weather b/c I loved how we had an outdoor ceremony on the beach.

I love the room in my hall and I think that is most important, for me anyway.
