My mom has been married to my step-father for almost 17 years, and 9 times out of 10 she wears both.

I have no idea why people would have their FH spend so much money and then never wear the ring I'm going to wear it with my wedding band and I'm not going to take it off. If people are so worried about it getting stolen, they shouldn't own it. Enjoy it, it's the most expensive thing you'll ever wear. Oh, and get it insured.

I love my ring....I am going to wear it in front of my wedding band. They both look so pretty together.

Some of us don't wear it everyday because we know we can damage it or for other personal reasons. I for instance work for an aerospace testing lab that if I am in the lab working on a rig I would risk getting it caught or scratched on various metal parts. Definitely not worth wearing it for that end result. I know other women who do not wear it everyday for other reasons. Doesn't mean they don't appreciate it or don't love it or don't miss wearing it. In the end it's definitely a personal decision.

Your 'If people are so worried about it getting stolen, they shouldn't own it.' is pure genius...are you a member of Mensa by any chance? I happen to not want to be pistol whipped or ever come into contact with a weapon because I lack the common sense to leave a shiny object that causes attention at home. Even if it were to get stolen and the insurance replaced it, it would not be the same ring my DH proposed with, why on Earth would I want to take that chance? Why would anyone?

And this comment 'Enjoy it, it's the most expensive thing you'll ever wear.' is not only highly presumptuous but also chuck full of resentment. Perhaps it's your truth that this is 'the most expensive thing you'll ever wear' but the same cannot be said for everyone.

Making general comments when you don't know the reasons behind personal decisions is laughable.

I am offended by those comments for several reasons:

I do not plan on wearing my e-ring with my wedding band on a daily basis. Not because of fear it would get stolen or because it is the most expensive thing I will ever wear (which it is not the most expensive thing I wear right now) but because I am not a big jewelry wearer.

My wedding band has channel set diamonds in the top half and when I wear it with the e-ring, I feel like it is too much (the e-ring is a soloitair). Being that I don't wear a lot of jewelery (even my diamond earrings are 3/4 carat total), I don't feel comfortable with all those diamonds on my finger--it's just not me or my style. Don't get me wrong, I am not going to get rid of it or anything, but maybe just on special occasions.
