Re: Does everyone like their engagement ring?

I love my ring!
I think there is aways the options like ask him for your 1 year anniversary if you can maby pick out something a little different. I understand what you are saying but IMO I think if you do mention you dont like the ring, there might be some hurt feelings. Think about it.

I agree, I'm sure his feeling would be hurt. I also agree that the ring is just a ring, a symbol, the most important thing is your love for each other, your bond. But you can always hint in exchanging the ring for another one if you really don't like it.

Re: Does everyone like their engagement ring?

I am very hapy with my ring and I feel its the one gift that should be well thought out.... you should be happy with it. It does not have to be extravagant but it should look like he put thought and effort into it.... Besides settling now will it lead to a lifetime of unthoughtful gifts?

Re: Does everyone like their engagement ring?

Maybe he did think it was thoughtful?

I love my ring, but more importantly, I love the relationship and commitment I have with my FH.

When my parents got married they had a - are u ready- single band ceremony- e.g.- my mother wore a man's wedding band and my dad wore nothing! Later on when they had the money she got the ring she always dreamed about!

You'd be surprised of how many people choose to get 'small' rings now, and then the bigger ones for their 5 or 10 year anniversary!

I guess what I am trying to say is if you are truly happy in your relationship then it doesn't matter about your ring!

A ring is just a ring, it doesnt measure the amount of love or trust you have with FH.
If you truly dont like it b/c it isnt your style that is one thing-then tell him that.

Re: Does everyone like their engagement ring?

I happen to love my ring! And to be honest, its not what i pictured myself wearing. When we went shopping i always looked at something completely different. However, now that i have this ring, i couldnt imagine having anything else. It fits me and more important, it is from him and something he picked out all on his own.
I dont think that it matters where its from! Mine is from Tiffanys, but i would be just as happy if it was from Walmart because it was from my FH. Maybe he couldnt afford what you want, but im sure he did the best that he could. Dont take that away from him. By complaining and refusing to wear it, do you think he's going to want to buy you another one?

I was just curious if everyone likes their engagement ring. I am not to fond of it. It's cute It is a heart shape diamond and silver but I know it is from Walmart. I just feel like he should have saved up alittle while and got something else. All of his other friends have rings that cost in the thousands. Then when I come with my walmart special it just doesn't look right.

Also I feel we have broken engagements before. So Many fights I think a fresh start which what we are having with the new date maybe a new ring

I want everything right this time.

Maybe he could not afford anything else. 2 years ago fh gave me a promise ring, from kmart, it was 1/4 ct, and yellow gold, and I showed that ring off like nobodys business. I always thought when we got engaged I would get this HUGE 2 ct at least diamond, fh comes from a super wealthy family, and everyone I know was expecting it, but I didnt. my center stone isnt even 1 ct..its .96(close to 1 ct, but not quite) and truthfully, I couldnt love anything more. He told me for our 10th wedding anniversary, we would upgrade, to any size stone I want, but I dont think I am going to do that. It means the world to me that he went out, with me in mind, and came back with a ring truely from his heart. It is a symbol of his love for you, it isnt about how big it is, or how much money it cost, its about spending the rest of your lives together. I think its very selfish to be upset over this, there are lots of girls who never get an engagement ring.

WIth time I think you will get the ring you want. Maybe for an anniversary gift

I love my ring!! I was shocked because FH picked it out without me ever saying what I wanted. He has a hard time picking out his own jeans. But my ring is perfect for me!!

Re: Does everyone like their engagement ring?

In the end, your love for each other and the commitment he asked you to share with him forever are 100% more important than a ring and obviously you know that. On the other hand, an engagement ring is a big part of your engagement period. I've noticed everytime someone congratulates me, it is the absolute next statement, 'so, let's see the ring!' It must be hard to show off a ring that deep down you are unhappy with. My suggestion is that you speak with him about it before any more time passes. Maybe you can get another one when you go for your wedding bands, or perhaps wait till you are married for a year, but i think it will hurt his feelings more if so much time passes w/out u saying anything....

Re: Does everyone like their engagement ring?

From a man's point of view. I was quite disheartened while my fiance was telling me about this post, and felt that this post really needed a mans touch. While I understand that you would have liked a ring from some crazy expensive jewelry store, I think you should be a little more sympathetic.
A ring is a symbol of everlasting love, and the reason he did not take the time to save the money is because of his crazy love for you and probably because of his fear of losing you.
It shouldn't matter where he got the ring from, rings can always be improved. The fact that he wants to marry you, and spend the rest of his life with you is what matters. Not the size of the diamond, and not even the ring in general. Hell the first time I asked my fiance to marry me, I didn't have a pocket to piss in, and I gave her a piece of chewing gum. That still did not stop her from shedding a tear and saying yes.
If I were you and I want to sound the least offensive when I say this! I would take what I can get because with an attitude such as yours, it is going to be hard to find another man. Material things shouldn't matter. Try to prioritize! What is really important? A ring? or Undying Devotion of a loved one? Food on the table? or a late night at the local pub? Clothes, and a roof over your head? or a poker game with 500 of your best friends?
Look at what you have and don't take it for granted. Again I don't mean to be offensive, I just think someone needed to open your eyes, and maybe all of your eyes. Please dont' take offense, just think about what you are complaining about!

Agree! How could anyone 'refuse' to wear a ring given to them by someone they love? My FH and I are very young and he saved and saved to get me a ring that he thought I would love. He was still paying it off months after he proposed. To be honest with you, he could have given me a ring from a machine at Waldbaums and I would have been happy. I love my ring and it is not 2 or 3 cts. I don't want to upgrade it because this is what he picked for me. This is the ring that when he saw it, he thought it would be the perfect ring to ask me to be his wife. Marriage is not about your ring. I know its easy to start thinking about material things, especially when planning a wedding, but think about your FH. He's obviously a good guy. Don't hurt his feelings.

Re: Does everyone like their engagement ring?

I did not mean to offend anyone. It is a matter of the promises that were broken with the ring. Your guys make promises to you when you get the ring. When I got this ring he made promises that are broken. Engagements that are broken.

I thought if something was new maybe all the bad luck would go away.
